Stop At: Arahurahu Marae, Paea, Opoa 98735 French Polynesia

Religious archeological site. While today's Polynesian Marae might appear to be a simple pile of stones, before Europeans began to colonize the Polynesian islands at the end of the 18th century, these edifices played a fundamental role in traditional society. More than just temples, Marae were the sites where all important decisions were made and were the centers for social, political and religious activities.

Stop At: Maraa Grotto, French Polynesia

Upon entering the naturally formed cave, you will encounter a small lake. Green, lush ferns frame the opening to the cave which bless you with small, refreshing droplets.

If you disembark from the cruise ship to join the tour, you will need to walk 150 yards to the meeting point in front of the Port Pharmacy. If you stay at Tahiti Airport Motel, you will need to walk 300 yards to the meeting point in the main airport terminal. If your Airbnb, guesthouse, pension is located quite far from the normal expected pickups range, you may be asked to come to the vicinity of Papeete. If you wish to bring suitcases on board during the tour, there will be a USD3.00 charge per suitcase, payable on the day.
