What you can expect

Explore Guatemala's main historic attraction with this adventure to the ancient Mayan city of Tikal. Follow a local guide to the site's famous landmarks, see the tropical wildlife in the Central American jungle, and immerse yourself in the world of one of the great civilizations of the Americas.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site that covers 222 square miles (575 sq km), Tikal is as significant as it is photogenic. After a bus trip to the archaeological site, you can step into one of the most important sanctuaries of ancient Mayan civilization. A local guide leads you to the site's most famous landmarks, such as Plaza Mayor and the Central Acropolis.

Continue to the South Acropolis, the Plaza of the Seven Temples, and the Lost World complex, and see structures that date back more than 1,000 years. With a location deep in the jungle, the ancient city is also famous for the tropical flora and fauna that can be found along with the historic buildings, so keep an eye out for howler monkeys, toucans, or nosy coatis.

After your memorable visit to the ruins, enjoy a traditional lunch before you return to Flores.
