What you can expect

Venture to Kauai’s east side for a half-day of kayaking on the Wailua River amongst plummeting waterfalls and a lush rainforest. Guided by knowledgeable locals, spend time paddling near ancient Hawaiian villages and heiaus (temples) before hiking to an enchanting 120-foot (36 m) waterfall.

The tour begins along the gentle currents of Kauai's picturesque jungle-river, where your expert guide teaches you the specifics of kayak safety and operations. Board a tandem kayak and set off for a leisurely 4-mile (6.4 km) journey along the Wailua River, home of the first Hawaiians who came from the Marquesas Islands to Kauai almost 1,500 years ago.

Along the way hear Native Hawaiian legends and learn about the nature and wildlife of Kauai's most sacred area. Arrive at the Secret Falls trailhead for a moderate 1-mile (1.6 km) hike through the often muddy rainforest to a striking 120-foot (36 m) waterfall. The waterfall descends into a freshwater mountain pool—the perfect spot for a refreshing swim.

Sit back, bask in the sun’s golden rays, and enjoy a picnic lunch with the scenic waterfall as backdrop. Lunch includes a variety of sandwiches, fresh pineapple, chips, cookies, and bottled water.
