What you can expect
Explore Vegueta (the old district of the Canaries) as you stroll down its cobbled alleys that are rich with culture and historical significance. Follow in the footsteps of Christopher Columbus while your knowledgeable guide provides interesting facts about influential characters and artwork located in this ancient district.
Begin your day with a visit to the Plaza of San Antonio Abad where the conquest of the Canary Islands began. Listen as your guide tells you what led to this significant historical event. Then, wander down narrow, pirate-movie-like streets on your way to Balconies Street.
Admire the first noble houses that were built after the conquest and see an ancient fountain next to the cathedral. See The Plaza de Santa Ana with its monumental buildings that are representative of the society. Your last stop is at the original si te of the Las Palmas foundation and where is today the Columbus House (not included) where you can learn everything you’ve ever wanted to know and more about the famous Italian explorer.
Be sure to ask for recommendations on the best places to eat and grab drinks before you say your farewells.
