Very nice, clean hotel on the canal close to Rembrandtplein where you will find numerous restaurants, bars and shopping. Also, walking distance to Rijksmuseum and van Gogh museum. Just lovely place to stay because it is so close to everything.

Don't bother unless you book 4 star or above!

Pros: Located on Rembrandtplein near center of city; close to restaurants & both types of coffeehouses (*wink*). Close to Centraal train station.
Cons: The service! Try smiling once in a while! We also stayed at the Radisson Blu for a night & they were quite helpful & friendly; we were sorry to leave!
Location: Centrally located. Public transit plentiful, train station close by. Lots of restaurants, cafes, coffee shops etc. FYI Watch out for the bicycles!
We were excited to learn we had been upgraded to an "executive" room, but that was short-lived when we saw how small it actually was. Our previous experience had been great, with a nice-sized room & bathroom you could turn around in, & in the renovated part of the hotel...not so this time! When we asked if we could pay for an upgrade the next day we were told we had booked a 3 star room (tho I was sure it was supposed to be a 4) & it was not possible, so we were stuck in the older & as yet not upgraded part of the building. The bathroom was so small that the entire floor was wet after using the (quite tiny) shower, & I could not sit on the toilet unless I was at a 45 degree angle! The room was tiny, oddly shaped, drafty, & no room to open our large bag...A real disappointment compared to our previous stay.

Came to this hotel for a few days for a quick stay in Amsterdam during my summer Eurotrip with my boyfriend. The staff was friendly but the room we got (queen bed) was rather disgusting. The bathroom smelled like rotten eggs or the gutters. The carpet was filthy dirty and the walls had water stains everywhere. The tv did not work and the shower didn't have a proper shower curtain so water sprayed everywhere... All around not a very enjoyable hotel. I felt dirty living in that room

Close to Rembrandt Square

Great location. Lots of restaurants and bars within walking distance. The hotel was easily accessible from the Central train station via Tram service, only a couple minutes walk from the stop. The hotel was quite a bit smaller than I expected. The bathroom was very compact. But who goes on vacation and spends all their time in the hotel room. I would not hesitate to book a room here again because it is in such a nice spot right on the Amstel. Walking along the canal at night was just beautiful.

Great boutique hotel

Pros: Free Internet, Quiet
Very pleasant experience. Hotel is within walking distance to everythin and near a subway stop that goes direct to central station. Make sure to buy a card for the street trams as they are very convenient. The cards are good for the subway and the trams.

Difficult to Locate

Pros: Free breakfast, Quiet
Cons: No free Internet
Armed with a detailed map, directions and hotel location we headed out from the train station. We walked for blocks and blocks and blocks including many stops for directions and circles in the same area. Finally arriving, we waited in a slow moving, length line to learned our rooms were not ready. This is common with overseas flights arriving in the morning hours. An able staff efficiently stored our luggage while we headed out to explore the neighborhood. We returned in the very early afternoon to a short line, gracious desk personnel and completed room. Great breakfast in crowded basement serving room. Old but clean accommodations with comfy bed. View of ugly alley out window but quiet night away from street. Efficient check out.
