The property is the best place to stay in BCN for convenience and comfort. The location can not be beat. The beds are fantastic. This visit we loved the “tea time”and music in the lobby on Friday night. The musician was great. The staff is always helpful and in particular “Marcos” in the bar was kind and offered excellent service. The Spa was incomplete but the staff tried their best to be accommodating. We will continue to return to 1898 on our trips to BCN.

Very disappointed that the pool wasn’t working during our stay as it was a main reason we booked hotel 1898. I understand there is a drought, but you should notify guests ahead of time. Did not care for our room at all. We checked in and we’re told we were “upgraded”. The room looked just like the one I booked though - the room is SO noisy! You here EVERYTHING happening down on the street below which is the back side (not even facing La Rambla). I didn’t sleep a wink the entire stay. We opted for the breakfast and dinner package with the room and the food was not edible, especially the dinner options…. And 4 euro for water..c’mon. As if we didn’t pay enough to stay at your hotel. Lastly, there is mold in the bathtub. Wouldn’t stay again.

The hotel is very nice, the staff was wonderful. The location is good, walking distance to many attractions. However, there are some issues. The pool is closed due to the drought, this is not noted on the website or Expedia. Another issue was metro and street noise. I was able to hear every train that passed the hotel. LA Rambla is a very popular and festive walking avenue. I could hear rambunctious people walking home for the bars at 2, 3, 4, and even 5am! If you don’t like street noise ask for an interior room, I’m not sure if that will help with the noise and rumbling from the metro. If you don’t mid a little noise to stay in the middle of all the action, this beautiful hotel will suite you. Once again, the staff was awesome!

Loved everything about H1898. Food was fantastic, room was excellent, location perfect and the service was amazing. I just wanted to especially thank Danny the bartender, he went out of his way to make us feel welcome and like family, I will definitely be back as soon as possible
