Aug 28, 2019

while checking in counter they told me that I didn't add what type of document I have. Since I didn't see a field in the website that specified the type of my travel ID this would be an issue in the future.

Aug 9, 2019

We couldn't check-in online, even though the email reminder said you could. Just come early to the airport to check-in.

What airport is best to fly into Beijing?

Decision-making time! There are two airports to take your pick of when traveling to Beijing. Capital Intl. Airport (PEK) is 16 mi from all the action downtown, while Nanyuan Airport (NAY) is about 8 mi away.

Where to stay in Beijing

Life is a big adventure, so why not get out there and truly enjoy it in Beijing? You can begin by selecting from the 1,476 wonderful properties available there through Travelocity.

After a taste of the good life on your break? Book a plush room with all the fancy extras at the China Great Hall Hotel. Alternatively, look up the Super 8 Hotel. It's an attractive choice if you're vacationing on a smaller budget.

How to get through airport security fast when traveling to Beijing

If you like the idea of spending more time at the airport bars and restaurants and less time navigating your way through security on your way to Beijing, just follow these useful tips:

  • Keep your boarding pass and passport easily accessible. They'll be the first things you'll be asked for by security staff.
  • Wallets, belts and power banks must be put in a tub for X-raying. If you pass through the body scanner with any of these items, you'll be asked to turn back and remove them.
  • Make sure your phone, laptop and other electronic devices are within easy reach. These items need to be put through the X-ray machine in separate bins.
  • When it comes to traveling with liquids and gels, all passengers are permitted a quart-sized clear resealable bag to transport containers no bigger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters).
  • Undo your shoelaces in preparation for entering the body scanner. Depending on the style of shoes you're wearing, security may instruct you to take them off.
  • Stash any pocketknives or other pointy items inside your checked luggage. Security won't allow these on the plane.
