How to get through airport security fast when traveling to Kuala Lumpur

These useful tips and hints about airport security will save you lots of time and energy on your way to Kuala Lumpur:

  • Ensure your boarding pass and travel ID are easy to access. You'll be required to produce them straightaway.
  • You'll have to put your tunes on pause for a short while. Earphones must be removed and placed in a tub for X-raying. The same applies to items such as coins and keys.
  • All laptops must be removed from their cases and placed in a tub prior to being X-rayed.
  • When you get to the security checkpoint, you'll be asked to put all creams, liquids and gels in a separate tray for scanning. Make sure they're all packed in containers no larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) and sealed in a clear zip-lock bag.
  • Hiking footwear and other bulky shoes are likely to be X-rayed at the security checkpoint. It might be wise to wear lightweight sneakers instead.
  • Some countries have stringent quarantine laws. Consider where you're journeying to and whether or not you're permitted to travel with fruit and meats.

Flights To Kuala Lumpur

If you're planning the ultimate honeymoon or looking for a vacation that's a little off the beaten path, flights to Kuala Lumpur take you near Malaysia's capital city, which is also its most populated. Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) is located about 30 miles south of the city center, so enjoy the ride and take in the scenery, including the many styles of architecture that mix colonial, Asian, and modern influences. Perhaps the most impressive are the postmodern Petronas Twin Towers, which dominate the Kuala Lumpur skyline.

Transportation from KUL

After you depart one of the many Kuala Lumpur flights, board the Aerotrain to head over to the Satellite Terminal, which is the main terminal at the airport. Look for the rainforest located within the terminal, giving you a taste of Malaysia before you venture outside. Hotels in Kuala Lumpur can be reached by taxis from the airport. Be sure to stop at any of three Airport Taxi counters to buy coupons for the airport taxi service before waiting in line. Metered taxis, available outside levels 1 and 3 of the main terminal, also require a coupon purchase before use. Buses and shuttles are located on the ground floor. Your best bet is to make these travel arrangements when you purchase your airfare, before you journey to Kuala Lumpur. There are also rental cars available; stop by the individual company counters located in the Arrival Hall.

Experience Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur is not a walking city. Your best bet will be to rely on buses or taxis to get around, whether visiting the Batu Caves or the Moorish-style, turreted Kuala Lumpur Railway Station. Rely on Travelocity for the best packages to Kuala Lumpur, including cheap flights to Kuala Lumpur. In addition, you can save up to $537 when you book your airfare and hotel at the same time.
