The water park was excellent for my 4 kids and in the lower level they have this really fun setup with lots of different games for the whole family, will definitely stay again when in the area

We come on a Thursday & the water park is never open until Friday after 4 pm with no other pool available to swim in either. With 4 kids to entertain it’s hard. Otherwise it’s a VERY great hotel!

Thank you for visiting our water park and staying with us! Generally we do open on Friday at 4PM as most of our lifeguards are in school in the area and close to our check-in time. You can always visit our website to check our water park hours prior to arrival, hielkriver.com/waterpark. However, I am glad that you had a wonderful time!

Hotel was in a great location for all that we did in the weekend. We had a largish family gathering with mixed ages of guests, so we thought an indoor waterpark would be fun. We knew this wasn't up to par with an upscale chain like Great Wolf, but we were happy to not pay those prices and deal with those crowds, either. The waterpark certainly suffices as a no-lines, couple of good slides and lazy river type thing. The hot tub is large. However, it all needs a solid update and cleaning. The stairs leading to the biggest slides are rusting out. We were also disappointed to find out that the waterpark closes at 4pm on Sunday! We were not able to enjoy it that evening as planned. The hotel has a 'family fun zone' in the basement which we had looked forward to playing ping pong in, but it cost extra! My only other complaint about the hotel was that it is very noisy. We were in a 2-queen room, though we measured and those beds were most certainly full/doubles, not queens. My sister had the same type room on the third floor, and hers was much larger. What gives? That being said, the room was large enough for us but had a musty smell a bit and the shower was odd- for anyone over 5'3 or so. Also, I had called ahead to request we be near our other family members' rooms, and we were all on different floors and opposite ends of the hotel. Weird. All in all, it served its purpose, cleanliness of the room was fine, staff was nice, and kids had fun.
