My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at Little Arches during our honeymoon recently and both agree the hotel and restaurant offered us the very best experience possible. All of the staff were so warm and inviting from the moment we arrived. The views of Miami beach and the cliffs were unbelievable - easy to see why the hotel offers wedding services. The sound of the waves was immensly relaxing while lounging on the (roof-covered) couches by the pool.
The area around the hotel was quite quiet - meaning the dead-end street got little car or foot traffic despite Miami Beach having warm and beautiful turquoise-colored water, and smooth sand. We had the great fortune of staying in room 8, which was the perfect room for us - very private and spacious (inside as well as out on the deck) with your own private hot tub and lounge-style loveseat, which were covered to offer pleasing shade during the warm days we were there. The style and small touches made the room pleasant to spend so much time in.
Cafe Luna offered some wickedly delicious entrees including the Seafood Linguine, which included the freshest and best tasting fish I've ever enjoyed.
We rented a car for part of the time we stayed and despite Bridgetown being so busy and a large number of roundabouts, it was pretty enjoyable. Being from the US, it was an interesting experience to (legally) drive on the left side of the road, but it really wasn't difficult at all. We loved visiting Mullin's Beach, the Bathsheba tide pools, the Animal Flower Cave and just exploring the island. The sea turtle excursion by Silver Moon was to die for!
It was tough to find pictures of the hotel online to get a good sense of what the place was like, but I think this contributed to an almost overwhelming pleasant surprise when we finally arrived. After 5 nights, we wished we could've taken up permanent residence.
I won't say you won't notice some things others have talked about - planes flying in and a boat that parks in the bay for a bit - but these did not detract from our stay in any noticable way. Not that it woke us, but I would note the restaurant on the 2nd floor opens at 7am, which inevitably meant hearing chairs dragged and scooted across the floor as people were seated if already awake.

This is a home away from home!
I chose Little Arches because I wanted to really rest and relax in a beautiful, quiet setting near the beach. I could not have chosen a more perfect place. In addition to the comfortable and wonderfully decorated accommodations, the location is situated across from the ocean that can be seen from the roof-top restaurant/bar (Café Luna—more on that later). I selected an ocean-facing room and woke up every morning to glorious views of beautiful turquoise water that seemed close enough to reach out and touch.
While the accommodations themselves are enough to warrant five SUPER stars in my book, the real unexpected treat at Little Arches is the staff. I was welcomed with hugs and smiles by Cherise, with whom I had had many phone and email exchanges prior to my arrival. The hotel manager, Sandra (who bent over backwards to make sure my every need was met), Luce, Soma, Emma, Cherise and Miss Rose (the fabulous housekeeper who remembered exactly how I liked things in my room) were all so friendly and so helpful—I can’t think of anything that they were unable to address right away – from arranging taxi service to making dinner reservations, to giving good advice on shopping and beach hopping. They were all just lovely and made me feel like they were as happy to have me around as I was to be there. Just lovely.
Even though Barbados has many, many great restaurants (and the food is to DIE for!), I found myself at Café Luna on five of my seven nights there. Again, the views, the food (I must have had the swordfish on the prix fixe menu three times!) and the décor warrant five stars on their own, but the staff was the real draw for me. Every afternoon I found my way up to the café to lounge around at the bar and chew the fat with Jason (“JP), Phil, Tito, Steve, Karalee, Wayde and Bodie. Most days I had plans to check out a restaurant somewhere else, but in the end found myself slipping off my sandals and staying at Café Luna for the night. I never felt so at home and so well taken care of at a restaurant (in fact, I felt just like I was at my neighborhood hangout spot after a few days!). I will make it a point to return to get some of the signature drinks (each bartender has one, my favorite being “From Parris with Love” which is JP’s) and to just lime with the crew every time I am in Barbados.
I post this review with mixed feelings…I want to make sure folks understand just how wonderful Little Arches and Café Luna are, but I also wish I could keep this as my own little secret. It certainly was the best choice I could have made for a week in Barbados, and I cannot wait to return!
