Our recent stay in this hotel was excellent. The hotel is clean and the rooms are very nice. We truly appreciated the kindness and helpfulness of the staff. The hourly shuttle to the City Center made getting around Rome very convenient. I would highly recommend this hotel.

it was not even close to a 5 star hotel. it was old and loud and run down. cracks and mold in bathroom. no idea why listed as a 5 stars. the staff was amazing at helping me get refunded and sent to another hotel but it was the middle of the night. which was super inconvenient.

Stayed in the Grand Hotel RItz for 6 days and the first strong point of the hotel is its location! A 2 minute walk from the Metro station which connects pretty much all of Rome and the bus stop is just outside the hotel entrance. There are plenty of stores around the hotel including a small supermarket and reasonably priced restaurants. We booked a Junior Suite which was pretty spacious by European standard. It was a little warm the week I was there, average temps were in the low 70s. The AC was weak and there was no way to adjust the temperature. So it was pretty warm in the room, had to open the windows in the night. Room service was prompt and would clean pretty efficiently but the condition of the rooms was a little dated by any other 5 Star standard hotel in the US or even Asian countries. We included the breakfast option in out package and the breakfast buffet was great with plenty of choices. The only real problem I had with the hotel was that there was absolutely no concierge service which I expected at a 5 star hotel. The staff was friendly but any question about going places ended up them telling me to use the metro or bus. After I got back I saw on the hotel page that they offered free shuttle service to one or two location which the staff absolutely did not even tell me about, even though I asked them if they had any shuttle service. I would rate the hotel to an equivalent of a 4 star hotel but the selling point of the hotel is really the location.

Not a great experience. Thank goodness we spent little time in the room. The hotel was built in 1960. Here is my list of complaints. There was only one receptacle in the room and it was in the bathroom. There were water stains on the bathroom ceiling. There were rust stains in the toilet. There was mold around the bath tub. Hot water took ten minutes to arrive at the shower. The device that switched the water from the shower to the tub was jammed, so no baths. The door was grinding into the wood floors and scraping them up. The main wall in the room was scraped and gouged up. A random number of towels seemed to be left each day. The safe in the closet was broken. The lighting was very poor. - All that being said the only good thing about the hotel was the staff. The were friendly and helpful.
