Great atmosphere & great staff

I'll start of by saying this hotel accommodates all of your needs including rooms that are dog friendly. The Rusty Nail, restaurant/ bar attached to property has grear food, live music and a great staff. On these chilly October evenings they have a huge fire pit to sit around. The hotel is just a few blocks from the cove where you can see amazing sunsets. I will be back!

The Beach Shack ..... AMAZING!

Pros: Location, cleanliness, pool
Cons: Service at Rusty Nail
Location: Free zoo, walking the streets and being awed by the architecture!
Wonderful experience from check-in to check-out ... family friendly, clean, spacious room with all the necessities! Right on the beach! Beach services were incredible! New heater in pool ... was 83* and crystal clear! The Rusty Nail is a bit of a hit or miss for food but drinks were great and there was live music. Would stay there agin without question! Had two 12 year olds with us who loved it!

perfect spot

Pros: It is in a great location. It is easy to walk to all the areas in town. It is casual and comfortable.
Stayed there a year ago and liked it so much we booked again last fall.

Close to beach, but so are many other places

The staff was very friendly, helpful and professional. However, the accommodations are very dated. We stayed on the 3rd floor, with ocean view, but there is no elevator and the stairs are not very well lit at night. The Beach Shack is adjacent to the Rusty Nail, which has a fire pit and live music at night. You can hear the activity from both, which is either a plus or minus depending on your preference. The reasons why I would NOT return to this hotel: First, the beds are very uncomfortable - no support, and I awoke with an aching back each morning. Second, the bathroom is sooooo small as to render it impossible to use comfortably.

Perfect beach get-away

Pros: Close restaurants, beach umbrella service.
If you want a clean,comfortable place to stay- this is as good as it gets. Friendly , helpful staff. A unique property. Small but adequate pool- good on-site restaurant and bar in the "rust-nail". nice relaxing area near the fire -pit and good live music. great family place. walk across to the beach and the absolute best part-- the umbrella and lounge chair service and no cost. ( excepting the tip). You are with walking distance of plenty of dining and shopping. Ask the beach staff for great local places if you want to get away from the "tourist-traps". Would highly recommend. the price is the price- it's in-season and your right on the beach. You can save a few bucks and miss out on the amenities that let you do what you came to do.--- RELAX!

What a wonderful experience my friends and I had at the Beach Shack!

Pros: Close restaurants
With Hurricane Irene hitting the New Jersey shoreline just days before our expected arrival at the Beach Shack, we thought for sure that our vacation plans would be ruined. What a terrific surprise to find out that the hotel had reopened and was honoring all reservations. What a wonderful, friendly staff we encountered. Any request we asked for was kindly granted. Being able to relax at the beach with the help of hotel personnel setting up our chairs and umbrellas was an added plus. And, food service right on the beach...who could ask for more! The location of the Beach Shack allowed us to walk to any destination we chose to visit while vacationing...and there definitely is a lot of places to go within walking distance. My friends and I have already decided to visit the Beach Shack again next summer. That's how pleased we were with our recent visit!

Good experience overall

The hotel was in a good location. The service at the beach was excellent. However, the room service was poor, The staff that took the orders were not polite and they seemed to have difficulty being accurate taking down the information
