Perfect setting for a great East Coast fall Weekend!

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet
We arrived in the midst of the Easton Waterfowl Show which was amazing. Many of the roads were closed due to the Show but the Tidewater Inn was very helpful with valet parking. From the moment we left our keys with the valet to the moment he handed them back 2 days later at our departure the service was great. Tidewater sits on a downtown corner block and is designed on the property to provide this really nice front "yard" area with a great covered porch outfitted with seating to sit and people watch. The restaurant on site has indoor and outdoor seating and a great atmosphere. The outdoor seating area has a beautiful brick fireplace to warm the area along with stand alone heaters when necessary. St. Michaels is only 10-15:00 away and is one of the most quaint New England towns we have had the pleasure of visiting. It's right on the water and full of fun and quirky shops. Don't miss an opportunity to stay at the Tidewater- she's a real gem!

The building and decor are charming.

Pros: Close restaurants
Cons: no coffee pot in room, dusty furniture
The comfortable bed and quiet central air conditioning were the two outstanding features. Adjusting to the small bathroom was tolerable. The amount of dust noted on the bedside table and lamp, along with fixtures in the bathroom was unacceptable. The room did not have a coffee pot, and the one in the main lobby ran out of coffee by 9 a.m.

Fantastic place for a wedding, great place for a quiet weekend

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, tons of things to do
I cannot come up with enough superlatives to describe our experience at the Tidewater Inn. We hosted our daughter's wedding at this venue and everything was fantastic. They made throwing an elegant wedding seem effortless. We received so many wonderful comments from our guests, and people are still calling us to say what a perfect weekend it was. The town is wonderful. They have great little places for dining, a farmers market on Saturday, great shops and St Michael's right down the road. The Tidewater is classy but not stuffy and the staff is friendly and accommodating. The rooms are fresh and clean and the beds are so comfortable. Honestly, everyone just loved this place.

Didn't sleep a wink

We had an amazing meal and service at Hunter's Tavern. Thanks to Benito and Melissa! Thomas at the front desk was very helpful. Unfortunately, the great service was overshadowed by the LOUD AC in the hotel room. I literally had to cover my ears in order to sleep. Additionally, the hotel charges $10 for parking, valet or park yourself. We opted to park ourselves. Unfortunately, there were no spaces left so had to go back in to hotel to get it valet parked. Came out the next day to get the car and it was parked next door in the public lot! I could have done that myself and saved $10. I've called the general manager to discuss the loud AC conditions in the room (which quite frankly spoiled an otherwise amazing property and weekend). Have not heard back.

I'll be back soon

Stayed one night in Feb 2009. Beautiful hotel with lots of charm. Rooms are classic. The bathrooms are a bit dated, but that's part of the hotel's character. A drippy sink faucet did annoy me, but I forgot to mention it at the front desk. The staff was great, warm, friendly, and helpful. I'm making another reservation there in the near future. Hopefully, I'll meet Bently the resident golden retriever. Very convenient to St Michaels, and Easton was fun to explore.

Don't be fooled

The elegant image of a luxurious and historic hotel enjoying brand-new upgrades is at odds with the experience. This is a place that gets all the little things, plus a couple of big things, wrong. The big ones: poorly trained staff and stifling hot rooms caused by inadequate air conditioning. A few of the annoying little ones: the expensive restaurant is closed two nights a week; the bar serves bad bar food and is uninviting; leaky bathroom fixtures; no lamp by the reading chair; no cables for using the free internet; beautiful bedding on a flimsy frame that squeaks every time you roll over. And this just bugs me: it's not really that historic. It was built in the 1940s on the SITE of older hotels. I salute the hoteliers and the town for taking pride in their history and the present-day character of Easton, but the management needs to improve. I'd recommend picking other places to stay until then.

A work in progress

Hotel is undergoing renovation but needs even more work than is currently planned. A/C barely functions in the rooms; bathrooms are old. Service is inconsistent. Waited over a hour for ice, never arrived after two calls. Finally, had to get it myself at the front desk. Car valet service quite slow. The renovations that have been completed are generally but much more needs to be done. Local Restaurant and Wine Bar are outstanding but don't make up for the rest of the property.

A Classic

I stayed at the Tidewater in Easton, Md. This is an old hotel, with lots of charm. It has that great classic hotel architecture, real wood, etc, but the best classic feature is the staff. Every one I met was eager to go the extra mile to see that the guest had an excellent stay. I was impressed.
