You can stroll and dine and shop and soak up the unique character of Fort Davis, and you're a quick drive from Texas' most dramatic mountain vistas. Fifteen breathtaking miles from the McDonald Observatory. Twenty miles from the art Mecca of Marfa. Thirty-two miles from a refreshing swim in the spring-fed mountain pool at Balmorhea. You're surrounded by history both inside--in a past life, Casa Hermosa served our country as a barracks for Army Air Force pilots during World War I---and outside--the rocks on our mountains are 500 million years old, and once served as hiding places for Apache and Comanche warriors.

Our stay in Fort Davis at Casa Hermosa
We had a lovely several days visiting Fort Davis and enjoyed our stay at the Casa Hermosa. Communication with Matthew was clear and prompt. The house was very comfortable for two couples and we enjoyed some time out on the front porch. Very convenient for our trips to McDonald Observatory and Davis Mountain State Park. Would definitely stay again.

The perfect place to get away
This is one of the nicest places we’ve ever booked on VRBO. Not only was it spacious, but it’s beautifully decorated and full of the comforts of home. The hosts were very thoughtful in their choice of amenities. The kitchen was a good size for cooking and there was a charcoal grill. The beds were very comfortable. And the water pressure in the shower was amazing. Best of all, Matt and Beth kept in communication leading up to checking in and made sure the heat and front porch light was in for our nighttime arrival. We are looking forward to staying on our next trip to Fort Davis.

Ft Davis weekend for Bloys camp
Clean, convenient, quaint and rustic with modern conveniences. The mini-split air conditioners were excellent during the record setting heat, plus they have more of a soothing "white noise" sound than most HVAC systems. The cabin definitely had the "Ft Davis look which we like more than the "all motels look the same". We're not accustomed to the total technology reservation and check in system of VRBO as this was only our second time to use it. Comfortable beds, good air-conditioning and good shower which are the three main requirements for hot days in August!
