I liked the resort feel to the stay, music at Moguls, location, and mtn views. Great view but, the windows in the room were filthy. I cleaned the inside of the window myself. The mini fridge didn't cool well nor did the AC unit in the room. The hallways had a bad order. Not sure if the smell was from Moguls restaurant that was attached or not. After a long day of hiking great use of the hot tub, however the stone siding in the tub cut my foot.

Hotel location is very scenic being up in the mountains which was cool. It was very convenient to have a good restaurant in the hotel and the complementary s’mores packets and popcorn was a fun addition. My only thing was the room I rented was the Northwoods view which didn’t have pics online of view and I found out why it’s cause the view was of the parking lot not the northwoods. I would stay there again in the future, but definitely pick the Mountain View instead and recommend others to do the same.

The Nordic condo we stayed in could use some renovation. The wallpaper in the room was old and coming loose in places. The bathroom was tiny and the bathroom fan rattled and was loud. There is no elevator and the outdoor one story climb up on metal grated stairs was precarious. We chose the condo instead of a standard room because the condo had a wood burning fireplace - which didn't disappoint!

Enjoyable stay in Lutsen!

We have never stayed here before so weren't sure what to except. Upon checking in, we were told we got a free upgrade, exciting! The staff were friendly and informative (the place is pretty huge) and even want down to the kitchen to see if we could still get a pizza for dinner (we checked in after 9pm and were all starving and the restaurant closed at 9). The hallways and buildings seemed pretty dingy and we weren't sure what our room would be like as we approached. Opening the door, we were all ecstatic and blown away. I loved the cozy cabin interior and was thrilled to find a full kitchen and fire place! The kids loved the beds in the loft area and that they had bunk beds. We all enjoyed playing Monopoly as one of the games that were stashed in the cupboard as well. We were blown away! I was impressed with the daily activities (we went and made s'mores at the camp fire one night that the lodge provided and got a couple family DVD's to watch from the library) and would definitely stay here again.

Fabulous view and great accomodations.

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, minutes from grand marais - cute little town exp, excellent hiking, manager at ch very friendly
Cons: wish for daily cleaning of room
First time staying at CH, and we loved it. Stayed in a 2 bdr TH with a deck and a great view of the mountains and forests. Lovely! The kitchen was well equipped, bedrooms were clean and beds were comfortable. We had a pet friendly unit which was wonderful and they gave our pup a pet bag of goodies upon check in. We took advantage of the free canoeing and the guide was very accomodating and scenery was lovely. Also took the Gondola up to Moose Mountain and hiked (long and rugged) down (with lots of uphil as wel). Would do it again. The view from the top is spectacular!! Just wish places would offer housekeeping in the TH, but I requested clean towels and they delivered them to our door, we would go back!!

Great Lodge terrible restaurant

Very nice Lodge however, the restaurant is a joke. The restaurant service-if you get any is verry poor. When talking to the restaurant manager he could care less that we were dissapointed in his restaurant. We were not the only family that complained about the restaurant. At the outdoor fire rings every family had a horror story about the restaurant. That being said there really are no restaurant options unless you are willing to drive 20 miles to Grand Marais which we did. In G. M. there were alot of options with great food. My Sisters Place great casual dining. The staff at the Lodge was friendly and helpful. We will go back to the Lodge however we will bring more food from home to avoid the Lodge restaurant.
