When I showed up there was no heat or hot water in my building, they had known this over a week prior to my stay. Upon checking in, they told me of the water problem. I had bundled my plane ticket with the hostel so my two week stay was paid for and I was unsure about canceling or getting a refund plus I didn’t think I could afford to stay anywhere else at this point so I decided reluctantly to stay. The salt in the wound that I absolutely did not appreciate was the fact the did not tell me the heat was also not working and when we were talking about the showers the comment “some people enjoy cold showers” absolutely did not sit well. My stay was from October 24th to November 7th so needless to say it was cold, damp, and musty in my room, the smell would leach into any clothes left out. Any wet clothes would not dry when hung out in the room. I’ve been camping enough in my life to just chalk it up to bad fate and grit my teeth through it but then to my surprise there was a string of break-ins that lead to people losing lots of there goods that they had locked in their lockers. Unfortunately the staff would not call the police for the people and report the issue. For myself, I was fortunate enough to have other travel plans and when I left after the first week and returned the following week they had fixed the heat and hot water issue. The second building that I was not using did have heat and hot water, thus going out in the rain to shower in that building.
