This hotel, on the top of the hill, offers splendid views of the surrounding area, and it is only a very short walk from the Cahal Pech Mayan ruins. Well worth a visit.

The setting is beautiful, pool area is great, room was comfy and clean but could use some updating/refreshing. Views from room, pool, and dinning area are stunning. Close to the center of town but the property is at the top of a very long and very steep hill (hence the amazing views) and walking back from town will leave you out of breath and needing a shower. Most staff I met were super pleasant and attentive without being annoying but 1) room was over an hour late in being ready for me to check in and 2) whoever I was emailing with before my arrival re: excursions tacked on a ton of stuff, including meals, without answering my questions about pricing or getting my ok. The front desk removed these additional charges, but it was a rather unpleasant surprise at check in that set a bad tone for the first day.

The accommodation is kept simple, the furnishings are relatively old and the rooms are not particularly clean (gecko excrement). Unfortunately, the hotel's transport service forgot to pick us up as agreed after a planned stopover. At breakfast we were asked to put together our individual order from the buffet ourselves, in order to then be charged exorbitant prices. Dinner focuses on Italian cuisine (pasta/pizza), in the quality that might be expected 9500km from the country of origin. All in all I would not recommend the accommodation.

Very nice hotel in a great location to town, the driveway was rough but most roads were. Limited wifi connection, but overall great stay!

Great view, terrible driveway

Pros: The location overlooking the city in the valley. Cute cabanas on the hillside. Typical hotel rooms available also. Quiet because it was the offseason.
Cons: The access road!!!
Location: Most visitors won't want to walk to and from the property. I didn't take in the tourist sites but walked around the typical Central American town.
I had no idea that the property was adjacency to an archeological site. It's situated on a steep hillside overlooking the town of San Ignacio, in the valley. The access road is the worst I have ever experienced including logging roads. Even though it's the off-season, I was surprised that of the nearly 60 rooms only 3 were occupied. The cabana I stayed in was very nice but the thatched roof let in lots of little bugs that either buzzed or bit. After the three days that I had booked, I was interested in extending my stay an additional four days but staff would not give me the same price that I had paid for the first portion of the stay. I chose to not run a tab and paid cash for meals and drinks. I didn't ask for copies of the paid receipts. At checkout I was told that I owed for a meal taken several days earlier. Although I disputed the charge I had to pay a second time.
