So Much Potential, but falls short of expectations

Pros: The food was superb until the head chef departed, at which time quality of food presentation and preparation both dropped substantially.
Cons: MANY important details overlooked - see above. Makes guests not feel like a priority. (also need to clean up the "cesspool" near the swimming pool).
Location: Island location is very nice - very isolated. Seafront on both sides. On-site activities are fun. Excursions are enjoyable when not cancelled.
Pros: Great food (until head chef departed). Friendly staff. Good weather. Remote location. Minimum technology. Cons: Food poisoning. Cancelled excursions without notice (not weather-related) – never mentioned as a possibility, so we were unable to get local souvenirs as a result – seriously detracted from holiday. Meals are at exact times with no in-between options. Onerous fee ($150 per person) to travel 9 miles to Belize City. Expensive drinks (costlier than in USA) using inexpensive local alcohol. Morning tea/juice (paid for) not provided until complaint. Toiletries not replenished until complaint. Shower leaked badly into adjacent room. No mosquito nets – large gaps in cabanas – awoke daily to bugs in bed. Dilapidated recreation equipment (kayaks, etc.) needs maintenance. Every wooden lounge chaise we used was broken (used several). Meager gift shop with 200%+ price markup versus USA prices. Dogs loose on property. No plausible seafront swimming area. Toilets turned off without notification. No children allowed accompanying guests, but various staff member’s (young) children are frequently seen around the property, in the pool, etc. Cheaply-assembled guest book contradicts itself which creates confusion for guests.

All of it was wonderful.

Pros: Free Internet, Quiet
This resort on St. George's Caye was an experience of a lifetime. It was magic from beginning to end. The spa, the sailing, the snorkeling and especially the wonderful staff.

Most relaxing vacation ever

Pros: Free breakfast, Free Internet, Quiet
While you might ask for something fancier or newer, you won't have a better experience if you are looking to get away and relax. The food was great. The staff were very friendly. This is probably the first vacation that I did not gain weight. I never felt hungry. The food was fresh, will prepared and presented nicely. We had a great time meeting the other guests. This is 5 star experience and an absolutely beautiful place.

What I expected.

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, friendly, clean
Cons: isolated if looking for action
I had a nice time here. I traveled alone and it was everything I expected. The beach/grounds were nice & clean All the staff was very friendly from beginning to end. I had a lodge room which turned out to be nice & convenient. Because I traveled alone, my room was clean & small but comfortable. It was a comfortable temp & didn't take long to cool. The room was pretty sound proof for being inside the bar. Ladies for the boat rides scarves, hair clips, & ponytail holders will be your best friends. Meals are served family style. Food is not exotic, just prepared diffrent. If you don't like diffrent or exploring diffrent ways of common food, this may not be for you. You will be sent a questionaire about your food preferences/diet prior to comming, email it back to them. I'm a food person & willing to try new spins on the food I eat. You won't need to purchase water. The water is fine to drink. Food portions are plenty; I was never hungry afterwards & didn't need snacks. If your wanting a quiet get away to decompress; this is the place. If your wanting activity and fast pace; this will not be for you. The resort is laid back. You can take a boat to the mainland. Ask and plan accordingly. I spent a great deal of time in a hammock on the pier. Keep in mind this is Belieze. They don't have all the modern convinences so bring OTC meds & such. Some items can be purchased in gift shop. The excursions are fun & scenic. Dress casual & have comfortable shoes for walking/hiking. I would return for r&r.

Secluded Island getaway

Pros: Free breakfast, Free Internet, Quiet
St Georges was exactly what I needed in a getaway. I was looking for a quiet place to decompress after working hard these last 6 months, and St Georges was it. I got my scuba certification from dive master, Jose and had several amazing scuba encounters with manta rays, eels, and lots of lionfish. The diving and snorkeling were unbelieveable. The food was excellent. The staff was topnotch and very friendly. I will go there again as soon as I get time off from my busy schedule. I hope to get back there by the middle of fall.

Staff was great

Pros: Free Internet, Quiet
Cons: Nothing close
Good to Great--The staff went overboard to meet every need and request. I felt valued and as if I were among friends. The snorkeling was some of the best I've ever experienced. Fair to Good--The food is alright, but don't expect gourmet meals. Don't ignore the request to notify the resort of your dietary needs. You'll be eating family style. Poor to Fair--It's the Caribbean and it's hot and muggy. But the word "air-conditioned" is a little bit of an exaggeration. Every person who shared days with us complained about how hot the rooms were at night. Two nights we couldn't sleep it was so hot (even with "a/c") and two nights we were spared because a cool storm blew in. Ugly to Poor--Lots of poverty in the country. You escape that by going to the island. Unfortunately, as we walked the island we saw many dogs that were left alone to guard closed up houses. One poor dog was tied up and had the rope wrapped around the post three times, his waist once, and his back leg three times. This wasn't the resorts fault, but just be ready.

You won't find a more attentive staff anywhere. Food is absolutely fabulous. Cabanas are comfy, clean, and unique. Activities are varied and fun. Great selections. Diving is fantastic even for a novice in her 70's. Beauty everywhere you look. You are very well taken care of with all of your needs met with friendly smiles. Wonderful people! I will definitely return for their "laid back luxury". Love to all and thank you!

Great choice in Belize

Pros: Free Internet, Quiet
My wife and I were so pleased with our decision to stay on St. George's Caye. This is exactly the week away from reality that we were looking for. Being a non-diver and a non-drinker, I was a little concerned that I might get island fever here. Thankfully, the resort, the staff, the food, and the island itself was more than enough to keep me entertained, relaxed, and smiling. This was our first time staying in an over water cabana. Wow, what a cool experience! Having the small waves lap up to shore underneath your bed was fantastic. The room was comfortable, clean, and well supplied. Cold beers sodas & waters were always waiting in the fridge. There was a nice air conditioning unit in the room, but with the louvered windows opened and ceiling fan spinning, who would want it? I was hesitant about staying on the small caye with our obvious limited choices when it comes to dining. Thankfully I was put at ease after our first night's dinner. Chef Hector & his staff kept the daily meals interesting, varied, and most importantly, DELICIOUS. A few of our favorites were BBQ Chicken, Grilled Lobster, Chicken Empanadas, and the best "Caye" Lime Pie. They did a great job serving fresh local vegetables, and freshly made fruit juices every day. We took a day trip to Ambergris Caye / San Pedro during our stay. After having spent a few days straight at St. Georges, that place felt like I was in Los Angeles. Loud, dirty, traffic jammed, hoards of tourists, etc. I am glad that we went though, as it confirmed that we made the right decision in choosing which island to spend our precious vacation time. The location and unreal beauty of Saint George's Caye is what will bring you to the resort. The staff that Captain Ron and Barry have put together is what will make you return. You will leave with some extra family & friends met at St. George's.

Was not as good as I expected.

Cons: Nothing close, Noisy, Poor breakfast
The staff was polite and helpful. While I was on the beach, I was never asked once for a cocktail. I had to always serve myself. The beaches were not good for snorkeling or swimming, but the resort would take you out to snorkel on their boat for $40 person. My lodging hut on the water was not kept up well. The food was average and at times not enough. The helicopters taking off from a nearby British post was annoying. The rum punches were good, but the rest of the alcohol was overpriced. The best part of the trip was the Hobie cat sailing. I would return only for that.
