Hotel was clean. Bars are not open too late. Not much activities at night. The staff was not consistently friendly. One night auditor told a group sitting at the bar a little after midnight that we shouldn’t bother him for water. He has his work to do and we should’ve asked for the water when the bar was open. We only needed the water for an older lady who seems to have had a little too much to drink. Overall, more night activities would have been great. I’ve stayed at Jolly Beach Realrt many times and the service, nightly activities and customer service way surpass Halcyon Cove unfortunately.

Not good
My room had cockroaches. The “clean”towels were dirty with stains. The electricity went out for about 10 minutes while I was in the shower. When asked for a discount I was told to check with Travelocity..
The Food and Staff especially Debbie and Norma were super stars!
Hotel needs sprucing up. Been there in the past When it was actually a lovely hotel.. too bad it didn’t get better with time. Thumbs down

Pros:The hotel staff was the most pleasing about the hotel, they were wonderful and made me feel at home and welcome.
Cons:The hotel needs many updates
The overall experience of the area and location of the hotel was wonderful however the hotel was out dated. The customer service was wonderful minus the housekeeping staff. They were sometimes rude as for example when I simply asked for wash cloths. Wash cloths were not put in the room daily and should be a normal practice.

This hotel made me feel comfortable.
Pros:Close restaurants, Quiet
Very good location.Beach is beautiful.Easy access everythere on island and taxi is available all the time.First class restaurants around the hotel ("Beach", "le Bistro" and many more). Do not go to closest "Sandals"- very bed and unfriendly staff there and bed service too.

1 star Hotel
Service was inadequate. When it rained it poured through the bathroom. My husband and I had to ask for wash cloths, ironing board and iron, a second key. My husband was harassed by the staff because he is a native of the island. It was horrible. There were British tourists asking for a plunger at the front desk. The phone didn't work sometimes. It was an absolute nightmare. Every request took at least 10 hrs to fill. Even a lemon wedge for the drinking water at the dining table was yessed to death but never materialized. I had to buy my own lemons and take to breakfast and dinner with us. None of the events ever started on time. The fish that wasn't fried at dinner seemed like it was spoiled fish that they smothered in some sauce. That is the only bad thing I have to say about the food. Overall I would give the food a 3.5 rating. The beach was superb, but in Antigua everyone has access to the beach. The A/C worked well. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Stay for convenience and not comfort
The hotel staff are amazing and are very kind. The hotel is on the main route to hit downtown St. John and has the best beachfront access. However, the rooms are outdated, the food is okay and the amenities are definitely less than desired. I've stayed at the hotel twice in the past year, and I stay here because of the staff's hospitality and its closeness to town. If you are looking for luxury, this is not the hotel for you. You need to go to Jolly Beach. If you want a beautiful beachfront and close proximity to activities, stay at the Halcyon and don't expect greatness
