Disappointed
I had to cancel this reservation. I made the reservation the night before I was to drive 300 miles to attend funeral service for my first cousin in DeKalb (12 miles west of New Boston.). The date that I was going to spend at the Holiday Inn Express in New Boston was February 8. I was just about to leave my home in Bellaire (Houston area) to make the trip when I was notified by a friend that she had Covid. We had spent about 2 hours sitting by each other on Sunday at lunch and visiting. She had been so sick that she hadn’t notified me. Both of us had all 5 Covid shots; so had the couple from whom she had caught it. I only had a slight nausea in my stomach, but I called my PCP and made an immediate appointment to get tested. It was after 1pm when I received negative results, but I decided it might not be a good thing to make that long drive that day—and for the first time I thought there might be Covid circulating among my relatives in DeKalb because my cousin who lives there does not believe in taking the Covid vaccine. My friend who notified me about her having caught it from the couple that are with us and they had just gotten home from a Mexican cruise. I was exposed to them also. I have been taking an Elderberry tonic to increase my immune system and I think that might have protected me. I tried to call Hotel.com , through whom I made the reservation just the night before to cancel the reservation & got msg system was not working. I had hoped to get a refund.
