                  Places To Go In Seattle

Pluviophiles, rejoice: A Seattle vacation is almost certain to satiate your longing for precipitation. Indeed, what could be more soul-satisfying than a thoughtful stroll in the rain through one of the country's most walkable cities? In the words of John Updike: "Rain is grace; rain is the sky descending to the earth; without rain, there would be no life." If you don't precisely delight in drizzle, fear not. You can always duck into one of the endemic coffee shops for a steamy cappuccino, and return to your Seattle activities when the sun peeks out (which it does), perhaps even gracing you with a rainbow

                  Things to Do in Seattle

However you feel about the occasional gray day (although we find it charming), don't let it stop you from enjoying this city. Stroll through the Seattle Art Museum, known to locals simply as SAM, which houses enough ancient and modern art to keep you busy for hours, but if you'd rather enjoy the fresh air, check out SAM's Olympic Sculpture Park near the waterfront. As long as you're nearby, walk down to the water for a glimpse of the snow-swathed Olympic Mountains across the bay. If all this wandering awakens your appetite, just head south to the Pike Place Market. Established in 1907, this is one of the country's oldest farmers markets and your best bet for local seafood ranging from salmon to shellfish. Browse the arts and crafts section for souvenirs before winding through the bowels of the city in the fascinating Seattle Underground tour. Of course, it wouldn't be a trip to Seattle without getting a new perspective from the pinnacle of the Space Needle.

If we've got you hooked on Seattle like a Pacific Northwest salmon, download Travelocity's mobile app and we'll shower you with great deals on lodging and airfare. After a stay in one of our Seattle hotels, you'll feel right as rain and ready to explore the new day, whatever the weather.
