Be Aware of Parking and Check In Process!
First, the good: the unit was clean and roomy, and the property was centrally located and the views were nice. Previous reviews mentioned a limited amount of hot water but my family of five washed dishes and showered with no issues. We did stagger our showers based on the reviews I read.
Now for the bad, CHECK IN and PARKING are a real nightmare. Sugartop does not allow parking at the top for visitors/renters, so when you check in , you have to wait in a one at the guard shack for one of the 5 loading/unloading spaces to be open. Once you are at the front of the line of cars, you can drive up and unload your belongings and party at the top. You then drive down and park at one of the parking lots located at various locations down the mountain. A shuttle runs continuously between the lots and the lodging. Honestly, there appears to be ample parking at the top and second lot, but you will not be able to park there. Check in consisted of us sitting in our car for an hour, then waiting at the top with our luggage for another 45 minutes. The common areas of sugar top feel like the hotel in Hot Tub Time Machine! Also, it looks like you can walk to the Oma lift/run with your gear and drop into Sugar Mountain and then ride the lift back to your room for lunch or a break…this is not the case…the lift is a short distance away but you will have to drive down the mountain, onto the main road, then into Sugar Mountain where you will struggle to find parking like every other poor sap!
