How to get through airport security fast when traveling to Madison

Make your trip to Madison that little bit easier by reading over these practical security tips:

  • Make sure you know the location of your boarding pass and travel ID. You don't want to hold up the queue when you're asked to produce them.
  • Bear in mind that metal belt buckles can set off the body scanner's alarms. If you have one on, you may be asked to step back and take it off before continuing.
  • All laptops must be removed from their protective carry bags and placed in a tray before being scanned.
  • When you approach the security checkpoint, you'll be asked to place all liquids, gels and creams in a separate tub for inspection. Make sure they're all packed in containers no larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) and sealed in a clear zip-lock bag.
  • Hiking footwear and other bulky shoes are most often X-rayed. Consider wearing simple sneakers instead.
  • Some destinations have stringent biosecurity laws. Consider where you're journeying to and whether or not it's permissible to travel with fresh fruit and other foods.
