Known as the "Historic Waterfront Gateway City," Sanford, Florida, offers access to Lake Monroe and the St. Johns River, the longest river in Florida. This charming city features 19th-century Victorian architecture, attractive shops and art galleries, and plenty of opportunities for recreation. With a convenient location between Orlando and Daytona Beach, hotels in Sanford are an ideal base from which to explore the region.
There are no public transit options linking Orlando Sanford International Airport directly to the town center, but with just 4 miles between them, you could almost walk! Hire a cab or rent a car in Sanford from one of the several rental agencies located on-site at the airport. If you prefer to fly into Orlando International Airport, it`s a 31-mile drive north to Sanford. If you don`t want to rent a car at the airport, you can also take a combination of the LYNX Bus and the SunRail to reach your destination.
After you`ve settled into one of the Sanford motels, head over to Lake Monroe to stroll the RiverWalk, a pleasant waterfront trail dotted with gazebos and swing benches. It provides access to many attractions, such as the Sanford Museum, Fort Mellon Park, and the historic downtown area, where you can do some shopping in the boutiques. Continue your quest for souvenirs at the Seminole Towne Center, or hang out in Magnolia Square before catching a show at the Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center. As long as you`re this close to Orlando, you may as well spend a few days there, too! Book one of our cheap hotels in Orlando and take the time to explore the "Theme Park Capital of the World." If you`re feeling more like a beach excursion, no problem: Daytona is less than 40 miles to the north.
