Amazing home on Lake Monroe. This Duplex/Town home has two bedrooms, a library, 2 living areas, full kitchen, private trails on 5 acres, a dock on Lake Monroe that you can use for duration of your stay, a spa/yoga room connected to the bathroom, 2 bonfire/fire pit areas, upper deck and 2 lower patios and so many more amenities!!! This home is located 2 mins from Fairfax Beach and 4 Winds resort which has amazing boat rentals! ONLY 15 mins from downtown Bloomington and 20 mins from IU campus and stadium! Lyft, Uber and door dash available to location.
The space
You have access to a black stone grill, charcoal grill 2 fire pits, upper deck, patio, trails on 5 acres, 2 full bedrooms, full bath, library, fireplace, awesome views and an amazing dock right ON LAKE MONROE! ZERO shared spaces. If you have a boat you can park it here for your stay! Canoes and Kayak available for use (beginning in June when weather permits)
*Bring hiking boots to use trails-The trails are considered rugged and has a strong incline.
If you would like to use the dock you must reach out before your stay to indicate this-a map and gate key will be provided (it’s literally kitty corner across the street and then down a hill)

Quaint Lake Monroe Retreat
The place had a very homelike feel and great views of Lake Monroe from the deck. Loved the fire pit and the property manager even left all the ingredients for s'mores. We will definitely return for future Bloomington getaway weekends.

Fall Break
If you are looking for a tranquil lakefront setting for reading a book or a quiet location for your kids to fish, this is your place. Nice kitchen and bathroom, both very well furnished. I would consider this location for future trips. I did feel a little mislead regarding the details of the property. This is actually a shared residence with the owner. I might have reconsidered renting had I known that, but only because my young boys tend to get loud. You do have your own private entrance into the house. Owners are wonderful people to deal with.

Odd Smell - Not thorough cleaning
The house itself was fine. Easy to get in and out with key code. The library of books and games was extensive and was nice to see and experience. The biggest issue is the smell. It smelled like stale pot smoke, or perhaps it used to be regularly smoked in and tried to cover up with an herbal oil, but it is a strong distinct smell in the upstairs. Downstairs was not nearly as strong of an odor, but there were issues with the cleaning between renters. There was leftover food in the fridge. The toilet had dried urine marks on the rim. Two towels were hanging on the back of the bathroom door that appeared to have been used. Dust bunnies in every corner. And if the renters are paying $100+ cleaning fee as part of the rental agreement, these are things that should be addressed. I wouldn't recommend another renting this property until they remove the cleaning fee or they actually clean the house thoroughly between renters.

Beautiful house
We enjoyed our stay! There is plenty of room for everyone and the downstairs is really cute! We did have trouble with the driveway and our boat trailer. The driveway is too narrow for our trailer and had to unhook and manually move our trailer around by hand (luckily we had already dropped the boat off at FourWinds marina or we never would have even made it to the house due to trees along driveway). The house is very secluded and private. The outdoor fire pit area/deck is a great spot! The host is great with communication also!

Perfect and peaceful for a weekend getaway
My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and wanted somewhere quiet, with easy access to outdoors, that also was dog friendly. We got all that and more in this listing. This is without a doubt the most well-stocked rental we have ever stayed in. There was a whole kitchen, with staples in the fridge, a full service coffee bar, a fire pit with s’more fixings, fishing poles and hooks, and so many games, books, and movies. Plus the scenery is gorgeous, quiet, and perfect for people who love to be outdoors like we do. There are two hiking trails on property that are steep (they weren’t kidding when they said expert) and a dock for use. We had a great time, as did our dog, and we will happily be back!
