How to get through airport security fast when traveling to Punta Cana

Your trip to Punta Cana begins the minute you've finished the security checks. We've compiled a list of tips and pointers to make sure you get through quickly:

  • Make sure your passport and boarding pass are not difficult to reach. You will be instructed to present them straightaway.
  • Wallets, belts and mobile phones should be placed in a tray for X-raying. If you walk into the body scanner with these items, you'll be instructed to turn back and remove them.
  • Ensure your phone, laptop and other electronic devices are easy to reach. These items need to be sent through the X-ray machine in separate trays.
  • When you approach the security checkpoint, you'll be asked to put all liquids, gels and creams in a separate tray for scanning. Make sure they're all in containers no larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) and sealed in a clear zip-lock bag.
  • Undo your shoelaces before approaching the body scanner. Depending on the type of shoes you're wearing, security may instruct you to remove them.
  • Stash any multi-tools or other pointy items inside your checked luggage. Security won't allow these in carry-on baggage.
