Book one of the cheap packages to Erie now and see why so many travelers return singing the praises of this corner of the world. With so many Erie hotel deals available, there's no reason you can't see this great city for yourself.
Staying at one of the Erie hotels in the downtown area will give you a great starting point for your Erie experience. Check out the local art museum, which plays host to more than 5,000 artworks and a multitude of traveling exhibitions about topics from Chinese pottery to comic books. Then head to the Erie Maritime Museum, where you'll learn about Erie's history as a major Great Lakes port. Right outside is the USS Niagara, a wooden-hulled warship which played a crucial role in defending the lakefront from British forces in the War of 1812. Finish your stay along the shores of Presque Isle State Park, with sandy beaches, bike trails, and spots for boating and fishing.
When you get hungry from all that outdoor activity, head to Peach Street or the downtown area for some quality grub. Chow down on a hot dog or hamburger with the local Greek sauce, a spicy, chili-like creation. You also can't leave Erie without trying the ox roast sandwiches—thinly sliced beef cooked in broth and wrapped in two hamburger buns.
