Stayed at the lodge with only a handful of other guests, being in the off season. Birthday adventure weekend! Our room was a king, nicely furnished and clean with small balcony behind to view sunsets. It had everything save a microwave. The lodge features a dining room and cozy great room with wood fired fireplace, staff is very friendly. While at the park we hit trails and toured a few caves though the area boasts of several of each. Natural bridges too, which are always a neat sight, especially large ones. If you enjoy Red River Gorge, you will definitely enjoy Carter 🙂.

There was water in the ice bucket, bathroom had broken tiles and exposed pipes. Sink was not put together properly so dirty around facet. Had a ground floor room while people above were very noisy.

We rented a cabin to share with our extended family. The property was super clean and welcomed our dog (with an additional $50 cleaning fee) Lots of room so the kids didn't drive us crazy. Parking is great as long as you don't have more than 4 cars. Very quiet and private. It was the perfect solution for spending time with family that we don't get to see too often. The restaurant offers good food at a reasonable price too, the cabins are stocked.. though no food...but full kitchens and a grill, if you would prefer cooking your own meals. There aren't too many restaurants in the area to choose from unless you go to Morehead. But overall we enjoyed our stay!
