I enjoyed the Haulapia Lodge and their staff. It was clean and the staff friendly. The one and only thing that I wish someone could change (and they can't) is how often the trains run. There is a train track that runs behind the lodge and the trains run about every 15 minutes. The lodge offers earplugs, so make sure you ask for them. With the earplugs I slept pretty well, however my husband said he was able to count at least 27 trains that woke him up throughout the night.

Anonymous, We're glad you enjoyed your room! We apologize for the noisy train. We do our best to make it as comfortable as we can for guests by offering the ear plugs. We appreciate your feedback!

We never made it to the lodge. Upon arriving in Las Vegas, we realized it is 2.5 hours drive to the West Rim from the Lodge which we had 8 am reservation. They should put that in bold under the description. We knew it was 2.5hour drive from Vegas but we thought we were getting ourselves positioned to the West Rim tour. VERY MISLEADING

We are very sorry for the confusion regarding our location. We are working on improving our online communication so guests are aware of our location in proximity to Las Vegas and to the West Rim.

The train runs behind the hotel and it was very noisy. There were very loud guests who left the hotel very early and slammed doors and yelled down the hall. I did not sleep well

Situated off of the Historic Route 66. On-site restaurant and Trading Post. Concierge desk to book Driver Rafting excursions. Wonderful HEATED salt water pool and spa. Conveniently located only 13 miles from the Grand Canyon Caverns and an hour and some change drive to the West Rim and Skywalk. Clean and comfortable rooms, BEAUTIFUL lobby! Friendly staff and great restaurant with delicious authentic and regular food at great prices! We can wait to book our next stay at this property! Highly recommend!

Loved the tribal colors throughout the place! It had the old Route 66 feel. The staff was awesome, food at restaurant was tasty! Only place in town to eat, so you get tourists and tribal members, some who share some beautiful stories of their culture. Only dislike was the trains directly behind hotel, blowing horns as they passed. The hotel does provide earplugs, just ask at check-in!

Hello dear guest! Thank you kindly for your feedback. We are happy to read you enjoyed your stay and were able to enjoy this unique location. Unfortunately, the Santa Fe railroad does come with it and same does the train noise. Thank you for taking advantage of the free ear plugs and thank you for staying with us. Regards!

Great location to get to the Havasupai Trail. The dinner was good, but one of our items was incorrect and we did not figure it out until we ate it for a midnight snack. Very helpful staff though. Was not aware that the nearby train runs approximately every hour. Was not bothered by it though a light sleeper should be prepared (they do provide free ear plugs). Continental breakfast was good. Being from Phoenix and unfamiliar with the snow, the only issue I had was when I was departing and had ice all over my windshield, the staff did not offer a solution. Luckily a police officer was able to loan me an ice scraper - I would not have been able to leave without his assistance.

Hello and thank you kindly for your feedback. We are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay at Hualapai Lodge. We are truly sorry about the ice on your windshield... the snow is not something we were prepared for either but it is a learning experience and we will most definitely have some snow removal equipment on hand for the next one. Thanks again.

Nice rooms, excellent front desk service, but restaurant staff was lack luster.

Best hotel I've stayed at next to a busy railroad.

Pros: Staff. Restaurant.
Cons: Move that train!
Location: Grand Canyon Caves. Oh... and the Grand Canyon. They lead white-water rafting expeditions right from the hotel as well.
The staff was ver friendly and helpful. The restaurant was good (stew with fry bread was lovely!) The pool was a little cool but the hot tub was adequate. The beds and rooms were comfy. Complimentary breakfast was continental and you could upgrade to hot selections for $5 (we didn't). And then there is the Railroad track right behind the back parking lot. And we (as our check-in host noted) were on the "noisy side" (she then pointed us to the complimentary ear plugs - I stopped back and took her up on them after hearing two trains scream by within about 20 minutes.) Now... there's something you don't see the hotel advertising. I put the ear plugs in and only vaguely remember hearing one train in the night. My wife didn't start with the earplugs, then put them in later in the night when she was awoken by a train. For me it takes a few tries to get those foam ear plugs to seat well (and I'm a carpenter who knows how they work... for whatever reason, I have difficulty getting them to fully fill my ear canal properly). My daughters said they never heard the trains. So... it seems like a big deal, but then again, maybe on the "quiet side" (worth requesting!) it ain't so bad and... it didn't totally disrupt our sleep. And... there is something vaguely poetic about us white vacationers staying on a Native American reservation being bothered by a noisy train rumbling across their land which is probably carrying stuff white people ordered from China.
