AWESOME boutique historic hotel

Pros: Private, quiet, friendly, tons of romantic character.
Cons: there is little to no sound barrier between rooms and floors, as expected with the period feeling of the establishment, hard to help, did not deter us
Location: very centrally located to all the sites in the area.
We debated about eating in Cafe Provence, boy am I glad we did - the most delicious meal I have ever had and I have enjoyed food from fantastic restaurants around the world. Really enjoyed the quaint, secluded from the crowds hotel. Will stay again (for certain).

In a castle, far, far, away.....

Pros: I liked the feeling that I was visiting with friends in a very refined, interesting, and adult home.
Location: Historic Williamsburg and Jamestown William and Mary College Shopping
A lovely time! I felt that I was visiting a friend's country home...relaxed, low key, quiet. Looking out the bedroom window facing the woods and seeing wild turkeys . Ambling down the gravel road to the winery for a tasting and a very good lunch.(and wine) Very friendly and helpful staff. An elegant meal in the excellent and intimate little restaurant. A lovely library hidden away. A place to go with someone you enjoy being with. NOT for those who need to be entertained by their hotel...go ten minutes down the road for that.

Mid Week Winery Trip

Pros: Very pleasant staff
Cons: Refrigerator in room would be nice and Wi-Fi signal strength
Location: Take the winery tour, which is onsite. Outlet shopping is very close
First of all, my girlfriend and I arrived late and the staff were very accomodating and nice . The hotel itself was very nice but lacking a little on modern day amenities; wifi was not good; but that turned out to be a good thing. Breakfast was very good and the winery tour was excellent. It was our first tasting, so we were very pleased with how things turned out. Be careful if you are arriving after dark, but trust your GPS, it was on the money......

The only place I would stay outside of Colonial Williamsburg!

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
Perfect Hotel! I work for a boutique hotel chain and was very impressed with this property. Charming decor and location, large bathrooms, nice amenities, fabulous complementary breakfast... the list goes on and on. It feels like a bed and breakfast but has all the benefits of a hotel. Perfect! To top it all off, Wedmore is located at the Williamsburg Winery and vinyards. A tasting for 2 is included with your room and it is a must! The tour was lovely and the wine was some of the better Virginia wine that I have tried. My boyfriend and I were looking for a romantic getaway and this was even better than I had hoped. I have been inside the Williamsburg Inn and was not impressed. Save your money and have a better experience at Wedmore! This place is a great value!

Quiet, with a French country feel

Pros: Free breakfast, Free Internet, Quiet
Wedmore Place was a delight. Each room is furnished with furniture from the area it is named after (we stayed in Burgundy). Room was a little sparsely furnished, but quality furniture with hardwood floors and Persian carpets gave it an elegant feel. Very clean; newly remodeled. It adjoins the Williamsburg Winery (and I'm told has the same owner), which is convenient to the Colonial scene by car, but away from the hubbub. It has a very serene feel to it. Fireplaces in the rooms, which they will come and light for you if it's cold enough outside. Excellent continental breakfast is included (with AAAAA flakey croissants imported from France). Dining room has a very Provencal feel (which is its name as well). We didn't eat dinner there but probably should have. This is an excellent alternative to the much larger Williamsburg Inn/Lodge in the Colonial center. Only downsides were the somewhat spare look and feel (not a cuddly place) and it's a little pricey.
