I would like to share our experience about this resort by expressing how we liked our stay for 10 days! Overall, ocean maya royale is a nice resort with a beautifuly maintained graden. There are two critical issues with this place, one is the food and the quality of food that is very low! I mean we got sick few nights into our stay, and the second part was the rough unfriendly ocean with smelly seaweed. We ended up either taking a two miles walk over to a cleaner and a better beach, or going to the town. It was extremely frustrating to have to stress over the beach and the food where it should have been a place for pleasant experiences. We ended up spending 4 days out of the resort to eat fresh good food and enjoy a nice beach.( we got food poisoning from the Japanese restaurant and we were sick for two whole days, missing out) We taxied to playa del Carmen town where we spent extra for everything that we had already paid for. We travel a lot especially to all inclusive resorts. We smelled a sense of cheating the guests with their food in many ares. I don’t recommend going there if you care about quality of your stay and your meals.The room was very clean. Personals were polite and the resort is peaceful. We did communicate that with the manager! See you later.

We got assigned a beautiful ocean front suite. It was very much appreciated because our entire trip depends on the location of our suite. If is is truly not an ocean front, we are not happy to say the list. OMR is beautiful property. Great staff, good food and great couple of nights of entertainment.

I love this resort as it is small and easy to get around from beach, pool, room, lobby and restaurants within 5 minutes. The staff is amazing!! Miguel is by far the best bartender whether he is in the pool bar or lobby bar. The entertainment staff made our stay even more fun. Kenddell, Adela, Arturito and Alexander always made a point to talk to our group every day. Kenddell even remembered all our names (group of 10) after meeting us the first time. By the end of our stay he had made all 6 girls personalized bracelets and a small note to thank us for making his job fun. He doesn't realize that he made our vacation so much more fun by making us feel welcome. Down side note was that they changed the lunch restaurant (El Charro) to a sit down meal. It used to be more of a buffet style with grab n go. Now you have to wait to be seated and waited on. Sometimes I just wanted to grab a plate of chips and guacamole or a plate of french fries without having to be waited on. I wish there was a spot for snacks like this near the beach or pool. This was my third time to visit here in 10 years and I would go back again!

The Resort was great. It’s a smaller resort so it is walkable. We received a room upgrade when we arrived. The room was clean, and the staff did a great job cleaning each day. The food was good, but certain dishes could have been hotter. The pools were nice and there is beach access. There’s activities on the property throughout the day as well. Any problems that we experienced the staff was able to assist fairly quickly. Overall I recommend this resort.

We really appreciated the staff and caring service throughout the resort. Loved the non-hotel style resort with plenty of personal space. Food and eating selection were both fantastic. We aren’t the party type so we enjoyed the two pools, spending all of our pool time at the quiet pool. Public bathrooms were always clean. Resort is reasonably sized for number of guests and didn’t need to wait anywhere to be served or acknowledged. Taxi distances from the resort were reasonable with reasonable flat rates. A standout for us was the spinach dip at the Sports Bar (of all other foods that were memorable) and the caramel iced coffees, which we had every morning. Lastly, we booked a non-ocean view room to save $ but we got a bit of an ocean view anyways which we enjoyed as a treat! Great time and great resort. Highly recommend for the quieter more intimate couple.

The beach and pool areas were lovely and clean. The restaurants had nice options and the food was delicious. We had a room with a private jacuzzi which wasn't working but as soon as we said something it was fixed right away. Our personal butler Fabian was wonderful. So helpful in so many ways. We will be back!

The resort itself looks to be older but kept up pretty well. The restaurants were ok. I didn't have anything that was bad but ate nothing that I would say was above average. The only issue we ran into was with the lack of pool chairs available. Everyone would go down and save chairs and you would have people remove people's towels and belongings. There was no clear message or policy issued by the resort. I has seen more than a few conflicts over incidents over pool chairs.
