My hubby and I booked room 5 for a weekend stay in late September to celebrate our Anniversary. We found it very charming, with Queen bed, a cozy en suite bathroom with a large shower, a dorm-style fridge/freezer combo and small TV. Our room was located on the 3rd floor; the stairs are very steep, so if you can't manage stairs, this is not the place for you. The staff was wonderful and always had answers to our questions about goings-on around town. They post lists at the desk every morning that include daily events around town and musical acts slated to perform throughout the evening. The only thing we found odd, is that the breakfast included with the stay was served at one of their sister inns. It was just a few doors down, but I think it's worth mentioning. The breakfast was fantastic consisting of a daily crust-less quiche, sausage/bacon, potatoes, pancakes/french toast, fresh fruit, yogurt, assorted muffins and cakes, cereals and coffee/tea and juices. The location is at the head of Bellevue and is walkable to many of the attraction at the beginning of Thames St. This place is a gem and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Quaint, historic European Hotel

Pros: Free parking and breakfast. Warm hospitality. Quaint, historic building and neighborhood. Good value. Comfy bed!
Cons: When I arrived there wasn't a trash pail and the TV wasn't working. Warning...coffee/bkfst doesn't start til 8 for early risers. 9 was fine for me!
Location: Take the Viking Trolley Tour. You will learn about the mansions, Newport history and see Ocean Drive. You can tour 1-3 mansions. Hike the Cliff Walk!
On a recent trip to CT to visit family, I had an opportunity to attend my nephew's college graduation in Newport, RI. His parents chose to stay at an expensive harbor hotel. I wanted something less expensive and more historic so I went with a bed and breakfast. I was extremely happy with my decision. I was pleased to see free ample parking on site. When I found the front desk (there are 3 inns) Modesto was very hospitable and showed me to the proper building. He also cooked and served an excellent breakfast in their quaint cafe. Location was great on Bellevue Ave. which is the same street as the mansions. The room was cozy and beautiful. Since this was a shared building, I was glad to have my white noise machine which blended any neighboring sounds with the A/C. The room smelled amazing even though I could not find any air fresheners. A sweet mystery.

Charming European Style Inn

Pros: Price, location, parking, breakfast included.
Cons: Shower in room didn't have a shelf to put soap, shampoo, etc. AC was quiet, but location above the bed was less than ideal, but we dealt with it.
Location: Fantastic location ~ walking distance to Tennis Hall of Fame, shops, restaurants, wharf. Neighborhood is quiet and feels safe. Very pretty area.
We have stayed at this inn previously and have had a good experience each time. It has the feel of an inn in Europe. The rooms are clean, charming, and roomy. We especially like the Manor House. All the inn's buildings are in a fantastic location - the neighborhood is quiet, parking is included (a huge added value, especially in the summer), and it's an easy walk to The International Tennis Hall of Fame, shops, restaurants, Cliff Walk, wharf, and a very short drive to the mansions. Breakfast is included and they offer choices such as fritattas, pancakes, French toast, ham, fruit, yogurt, pastries, cereals, coffee, juice. We ate our breakfast outdoors under a lovely pergola in the back of the Manor, but there is a very charming dining area if you choose to eat indoors. I would highly recommend this inn and plan on returning in the future.
