We are from Florida and not used to driving in snow. We were traveling from Grand Canyon to Page. When we woke up the news said do not travel today due to a snow storm. We decided to chance it and left an hour earlier than we had planned. We left at 8am. The trip was supposed to be 2 1/2 hours. We made it about 15 miles outside of Flagstaff at 11am. We were in stand still traffic due to an accident. The roads were no longer plowed. As we sat there our car was being buried in snow. We were scared and called the hotel. The First Lady we spoke to was very nice and said she understood but we needed to call Travelocity as that is who we booked through. She said to just have them call on our behalf to cancel. She gave me a number to call. Travelocity called the hotel and left me on hold for about 45 minutes. She finally came back and said she tried everything but the hotel would not let her cancel because it was physically possible to get to the hotel. When we turned around our arrival time had gone up to 4:15. Again. We left at 8 and it should have been a 2 1/2 hour drive. The arrival time kept going up due to accidents and cars breaking down. Cars were literally spinning out sideways on the road. So maybe it was physically possible to get there but us Florida people did not fell comfortable taking that chance. We have spoken to multiple people at the hotel and they have no sympathy and refuse to refund our money. Also, conveniently enough there is no manager available to talk to.
