How to get through airport security fast when traveling to Tokyo

Make your journey to Tokyo a little bit easier by following these clever security tips:

  • Have your passport and boarding pass somewhere handy. They'll be the first things you'll be asked to produce by airport security.
  • Remove your belt, jewellery and shoes before arriving at the security checkpoint. Items like these are not permitted in the body scanner.
  • All laptops must be taken out of their protective carry bags and placed in a tub before X-raying.
  • When you approach the security checkpoint, you'll be asked to put all creams, liquids and gels in a separate bin for inspection. Make sure they're all in containers no larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) and sealed in a clear zip-lock bag.
  • The airport security may ask you to remove your shoes for the body scanner. Wear a pair that come off easily. There's nothing more tiresome than having to do up your laces over and over again.
  • Pack any pocketknives or other dangerous items in your checked luggage. Security won't allow these on the aircraft.
