"Pros: I arrived hours early and they were happy to place me in a room free of charge. When I was unsatisfied with the first (no view, dirty patio, no chain lock) they happily moved me to a great 3rd floor room (311) with a beautiful balcony. The best part was how the waiters and housecleaning were SO eager to please and understand despite language differences. Nice pool, great lounge chairs, nice beach towels daily, very relaxed guests, close to EVERYTHING you could ask for, plenty of umbrellas to go around at the pool. Authentic Mexican street food and vendors, next level dining, and American style bars with Caribbean twists all within a couple of blocks. The five block walk with our luggage was easy from the ferry dock. And renting a golf cart one day took us to the other end of the island to see Punta Sur, the sea turtle habitat, Mayan ruins, and Garrafon Natural Reef Park. We ate and drank at The Joint.
Cons: the walls are thin - so expect a little noise. You get what you pay for - this isn't a Cancun resort, but there were no bugs or broken furniture, rude receptions, etc! I was comfortable the entire stay. Getting the Americano paid breakfast instead of the continental was essential. There are no microwaves, coffee makers, hair dryers, or ice makers to be found. The mini-fridge was a great fridge and freezer though. The bathroom was VERY large with a nice walk-in shower, but the meager shampoo and conditioner were terrible - bring your own."
