Merritt House Inn has an incredible location in downtown Monterey. It's so close to so many convenient locations within walking distance. It certainly has a quaint charm (not dirty, not obsolete, genuinely invitingly charming like staying at a friends house...)

Very nice. When we checked in the host was very hospitable and accommodating. Unfortunately we were only able to stay one night. We hadn't been to Monterey in quite a few years, and back then we stayed at the Merritt House. Wrote down the name to make sure wouldn't forget. We didn't, and stayed there last weekend.

Great stay in Monterey.

Pros: Nice hotel and great staff. Close to lots to see, eat, and do.
Location: Minutes walk to Fisherman's Wharf, lots of restaurants, The Crown and Anchor nearby was a favourite, Adventures by the sea is a great business as well
Staying in Monterey for a weekend wedding and picked Merritt House in for it's location and reviews.

Charming family operated hotel

Pros: The staff was great, and the room we had was very comfortable. They provide Duraflame logs for the fireplace in the room...romantic touch!
Cons: A larger eating area for the Continental breakfast....although I don't know how that could be done.
Location: Close to the Convention Center and the other large hotels, Fishermans Wharf, bike trail and center of town.
Wonderful place to stay close to Fisheman's Wharf and downtown area. A short drive to the Aquarium and Cannery Row. We were there after the 3 day Memorial Day Weekend and had the place to ourselves, almost. There are 25 or 26 rooms that are very comfortable with beautiful furnishings. Parking can be tight if they are full, but every room has 1 space alloted...just beware if you have a huge vehicle, there are a limited number of spaces where you can fit.
