A great place to catch a couple of night!

Pros: Granite counters, bedding + bed were COMFORTABLE. Plenty of lights, spots to work and relax, a standing closet. Fridge, elevator convenient to my room
Cons: The grounds are under construction in places. Security cameras on the parking lot would give me peace of mind. I saw signs stating not responsible
Location: Easy interstate access to get to Restaurants, technology parkway, I was able to take neighborhoods to locations. Kroger Grocery close by.
At first driving into Doraville GA, I admit I was concerned. But once I got into the facility area, I liked it. The hotel is under renovation. The pool was not in use and looked like a frog pond- I mean that affectionately because the staff and the condition of my king bed room was perfectly fine. I was extremely pleased with the kindness and friendliness of the staff. The room was comfortable, lots of pillows, smelled fresh and had all of the amenities I needed.

ICK! Experience far different than advertised

This hotel is inappropriate for business travel. Granted it's the offseason but everything from the indifferent staff to the cheap, worn furniture - and of course the sour SMELL in the halls and rooms makes me not want to meet colleagues for a drink in the so-so bar. I'm complaining to the Convention Bureau and my conference organizers. The hotel's web site does not make clear the difference between the historic building on the beach and the run-down 70s-era TraveLodge-type building across the street. Beware, you might think you're booking one and then get the other. If the "hill" building as it is called were a standalone, I doubt it would remain open long. Obviously a don't-care operation on the part of service staff and management alike for allowing it to be booked in this condition. Don't be fooled by the hotel's website. This hotel is not only subpar, it is substandard.

Never Again

My fiance' was staying at the hotel for thet Labor Day Rocl n Roll half marathon. I stayed with her for the trip. Hotel looked old and very outdated. The elevators were slow and the decor was sub-par. You have to valet the car unless you wan to park it yourself acros the street at the Cavalier on the Hill, approx 500 yards away. My car was damaged (about $*) while being valeted. The staff was very apologetic and I called mgmt and mad a report. A month later the hotel refused to pay for the damages. Caveilier is far about 20 block away form the VA Beach night life, not covenient to go out. It was first time in VA Beach and I was on impressed at all. My next trip will to VA Beach will not be at the Cavelier....

what a dump!

The rooms need to be renovated asap. The front desk said that they already renovated 1 floor but have not gotten to the others. The room was in terrible shape with funiture and fixtures from the early 1960's, TV had a dial to change channels! \nThe hotels is not on the part of Atlantic ave with all the restaurants, you will need to walk atleast 15 blocks or take the WAVE bus that runs up and down Atlantic ave, if you have small kids this is a nightmare becuase the WAVE is full of drunk teenagers. Which is OK as long as you expect it. \n \nWe have been going to VA beach for the lst 5 years, there are better options down around 25th street. We chose Cavaleir because of an online special BIG MISTAKE. Pay an extra $* a night you will not regret it.

PLEASE UPDATE!

My family has been visiting the beachfront Cavalier since I was a child. The hotel's ammenties are exactly the same since the early 80's. We have continued to return because of the included buffet, the pools and outdoor cafe. It is great for families b/c of all of these features. However, we are sadly beginning to look elsewhere until they renovate.

Not what I expected

Hotel needs lots of work. Could not turn off hot water in bathtub, ran in a stream. Bathtub was procelein was chipping. Bed leg was broke. We were told they had an indoor pool and jacuzzi. At the ocean front property there is not an indoor pool, only at the propety on the hill, it does not open till May 11th. Not worth the money. Too far from the main attractions. Drunk wedding party kept me up till 3:30 am being loud and slaming doors. Offered to move me to 7th floor but a fight broke out on that floor from the drunk party also.

convenience & thrift

Stayed at Cavalier Oceanfront for air show. Staff were friendly & attentive (fixed our A/C by the time we returned in the evening and offered to move our room if A/C couldn't be fixed). Parking was a nightmare; were forced to use valet parking throughout our stay. Lobby & hallways are in desperate need of updating (very 70?s). Nothing spectacular but room was clean & functional (with exception of A/C). Great location (1 block from boardwalk). Great beach. Hotel restaurant was horrible; food bland and overpriced. But overall a positive experience (though a bit pricey for what it was).

Rooms are clean. Service was quite good. Liked the valet parking. Stayed in the beachfront hotel.
