First off, when I walked in I thought "This isn't the place I rented." The furniture was different from shown in the photos and the one I rented had an outdoor fireplace. This unit is half of a duplex and the other side was the unit with the outdoor fireplace. But since there were already people staying there I decided to let things slide. The reason I'm marking this as three stars rather than higher (I'm usually a really easy grader) is the lack of comfort in the living room and the fact that this could be fixed with a bit of effort.
Explaining: The living room is a long rectangle with a loveseat on one end (by the door) with an arm chair beside it. There is no coffee table in front of the sofa, nor a side table by the chair--basically no place to sit a drink down. The tv is on the wall way at the opposite end of the room. To watch tv you must look over the dining table and chairs. There is only the ceiling light; there are no floor or table lamps in the room so don't plan to read a book.
One corner of the room is taken up by a large floral arrangement. At the opposite end with the tv there is a massive table to hold a few books and tv components. The table to be used for dining is an ornate antique in the middle of the room, one where there is so much carving that you can't fit your legs under it. The chairs are very straight, small and uncomfortable.
Room could work with a bit of effort. I suggest moving the massive table under the tv down the wall to the corner. Then I'd move the big floral display on to that table, place in corner next to the window. Since the kitchen is so far away, I'd utilize that table to hold the coffee maker and toaster, basically convert it into a 'breakfast room'. I'd purchase a new smallish round table with comfortable seating and put that where the flowers currently are. Move the sofa up to the front window and angle it slightly to face the tv. Pull the arm chair up as well. This would be better for watching a movie. Definitely add a coffee table and some lamps.
For the bathroom: a small stand under the blow dryer and a narrow bookcase behind the door would give spots for multiple toiletry kits and to hold those extra towels.
Honestly, this place just needs a bit of rearranging for comfort. The location is great and the front garden is lovely. The two beds were very comfortable and checking in and out was a breeze!
