New England Colonial home with fabulous Connecticut River views!!

This quintessential home speaks for itself. It sits stately on a hill overlooking the awe-inspiring historic Connecticut River as if it is standing guard. The 5 granite terraces that march up into the forest offer even more of the incredible breathtaking views this home offers. When I look out over this beautiful landscape I feel privileged to be here and astonished by the fact that over the last 400 years this River has been a major player in the forming of our country.
Our vision is to offer an atmosphere of Colonial Early American times. We hope that the simple surroundings bring a warm and welcoming feeling like a blanket around your shoulders as you sit in front of the fireplace made of brownstone.
East Haddam a magical place to visit founded in 1734. The Goodspeed Opera House (within walking distance .8 miles) and Gillette Castle are just 2 of the high points in the area. Sit on the deck at the Gelston House (1853) and enjoy a glass of wine and excellent fish and chips. Also within walking distance in case one glass of wine too many!!
One of my favorite moments here is to lie in bed looking out over the river and listening to the pair of local bald eagles chatting in the tree across the road. If only someone would have brought me a cup of coffee!!

Wedding Weekend
We were attending a family wedding at the River House just over the bridge and needed a place for our (all adult) family to stay. What a lovely surprise to find this cozy authenticity restored home overlooking the Connecticut River. Kathleen greeted us and showed us around when we arrived. Very special weekend.

Base for USCGA Parents Weekend
A fabulous residence and locale! We appreciate the feel of well-loved historic homes (with modern conveniences) and this property delivers just that. Was a great location to rest and decompress. The location is close to local logistics but far enough away from CGA (35-40min) for our cadet to disconnect (a little). Views are spectacular.

Kathy's house is beautiful! Nice space and setup to honor the time it was built. My husnand said it was like staying in a cool museum. The air conditioning made the house very comfortable and there were items stocked in the kitchen and plenty of towels in the bathrooms. Kathy was easy to communicate with and took my suggestions under advisement. The view and all of her beautiful gardens were an additional treat!

Amazing Visit
This is a spectacular historical home decorated in 17 th century style but with modern amenities. The garden and views are also stunning. We sat outside by the fire pit each evening watching the sunset. Don’t miss the adorable town with a yummy riverside restaurant. Kathleen was a pleasure to work with too.

Awesome mix of old and new
We want to thank you for a wonderful stay in your home. The experience of staying in a home that is centuries old is quite an experience. Being from California we have not had the opportunity to enjoy such history. Your suggestions as to where to visit were perfect. Gillette Castle was a highlight. The trip to Hammonasset Beach was great and we really appreciated the gear you had available for us to take with us. The weather could have been better though🌦️. The ferry tickets you left in our basket were a huge hit. We have never been on a ferry before, much less a 200 year old ferry. Everyone we visited suggested we come back during the fall colors. Will definitely plan on doing that soon. Thanks again!
