With confirmed reservation we drove 200 miles to Kernville. At the front desk we were told to wait for the room to be clean and ready, and to come back at the check in time at 3 pm. To our shock, after having couple of drinks in town, we came back to hear that our room was sold out. They had "something else" for more than double the price, but even when I, out of desperation accepted it, I was told it's no longer available. I guess when there is annual event in town, the room goes to one who pays the most. No one cares that you are in the middle of nowhere with no bed to sleep since entire town was sold out due to event. Not quite shocked for the small bitten up motel policy, but am shocked that Hotels.com do the business with dishonest place like this.
