Our room was very hot upon arrival, it took a long time to cool off. Would recommend they monitor the room temperature before guests arrive. Other than that, everything was excellent.

We loved the ocean view from our room and deck. The restaurant has greatly improved since our last visit, foodwise and furniturewise. The grounds are beautiful. Loved all the hummingbirds flitting around.

This hotel is amazing!!! First off, the scenery is breath taking. There is no bad view on this property. The check in process was very easy and we even got an ocean view room when we did not request one. The staff was very helpful as well as extremely nice. When we did get to our room, we were missing the TV remote, hair dryer and there were not drawers to put our clothes but we were only there for a night so it did not matter. We will for sure be coming back again :)

As Beautiful as ever

Pros: What's not to like.
Cons: How do you improve on excellence?
Location: A million a one things to keep you occupied in the area.
The last time that I frequented the Heritage House was in the late 1980's. Then it was something special. Quaint, breath taking views overlooking the Pacific, gracious management and staff, very good food, and the accommodations very special. Today the Heritage House is even better...... After a three year closure, new ownership is renovating the old with state of the art accommodations which still have the hotel's pristine qualities of yesterday. Classy! The views are still spectacular. The food excellent. Their staff "Over the top" accommodating. Most of all the grounds are beautifully maintained. Very serene and magical. My significant other and myself will return the "Same Time Next Year".

Great location with nice room and incredible views

Pros: Location!
Cons: Improvement is being done at this time.
Location: We enjoyed the walking trails around the resort, golf at Little River and the great restaurants. Overall, we loved the view and relaxing on the deck.
We were nicely greeted by the front desk staff and offered a room upgrade at no extra charge. It was a beautiful room and great location. We enjoyed the resort very much. It is going through a renovation so some of the rooms may not be done. The restaurant and bar have not yet been renovated. We had a small issue with a bill that was handled quickly and professionally.

Beautiful Location, But Under Construction

Pros: The service and the location.
Cons: Updating the buildings, and expanding the restaurant menu.
This was my second trip to the Mendocino Coast and my second stay at the Heritage House. The grounds are breathtaking and every room has an ocean view. There are rooms in the main building and little bungalows and quadraplexes, etc. located throughout the property. The first time I stayed I had a room close to the cove in an area that was pretty secluded. It was wonderful. This time I stayed in the main building. The room was smaller, and construction on some of the other buildings could be heard in the late morning. Still it was a nice a room. This place is perfect for romantic getaways, respite from the daily grind, and a photo hobbyists dream. When all the buildings have been updated and/ or reconstructed, this place will easily rate 5 STARS, but I probably won't be able to afford it then.

Same Time Next Year

Pros: Clean, neat, newly renovated. Loved the warm floor in the bathroom, especially when it was foggy.
Cons: The restaurant could have better food.
Location: Hey, it's Mendocino with its art galleries, great book store, tons of walking trains and close to some fabulous restaurants.
We have stayed in every (yes, every) B&B and hotel in Mendocino. This was one of the nicest. We had a view of the ocean and a path leading down to the beach. The floor in the bathroom was heated, the fixtures were new and the room recently renovated. We were glad of the changes as we had stayed here years ago and it wasn't as nice. The Restaurant on site needs some work. The food is so-so. We had a great time and will return.
