With the limitations and Covid-19 restrictions in place, the stay was 5/5 stars. From checking in to checking out. Staff was comforting and easy to talk to. Look forward to booking here again in the future.

30th Wedding Anniversary!!!

Pros: Staff were amazing!! Rooms were beautiful and very clean. Liked the breakfast in the morning. Having parking available. Quiet
Cons: Nothing. Loved this hotel!!!
Location: Close to beach, Santa Monica Pier, Montana Street, great restaurants, shopping on the Promenade.
Amazing Hotel in Santa Monica!!! Staff and service are remarkable. Quiet comfortable clean rooms. Continental breakfast in the morning was amazing!! Parking available for $25 a night which is the going rate for nice boutique hotels. Bikes available to use for an easy ride to the beach. Lovely stay. When i spoke with Alfred and mentioned that i wanted to surprise my husband with a special treat for our anniversary, he had a beautiful cake and 30th Anniversary card delivered to our room!!! Alfred even went that extra mile and purchased candles for the cake!!! A surprise to both my husband and i was that our room had it's own private balcony with beautiful furniture and a gas fireplace. Beautiful space to have a glass of wine and watch the fire. I will absolutely stay here again. My husband and i were very impressed with the service and staff at the Ambrose!!!

Great Hotel

My daugher and I enjoyed your hotel very much!! Not only was it beautifully furnished and comfortable but the staff were very kind and professional. We also enjoyed taking the bikes for a ride around town. Another pleasant addition was the breakfast spread!!! Very well done!! We will definitely recommend you to friends and family!!

don't bother

We went to the Ambrose, despite its terrible location, because it supposedly has a free shuttle to parts of Santa Monica you might actually want to visit. Not so for kids under 8. They don't post this on their website, mind you. The staff is terrible and unresponsive. The room was tiny and overlooked a parking structure. The location is far from shops, restaurants, or the beach. Oh, and it's expensive. Look elsewhere...

I will stay in this hotel again.

Pros: Free breakfast, Free Internet, good location
Cons: getting old need some rennovations
This is my third time I stayed in this hotel. I still liked it because of it's location, breakfast, and the convenient parking. However, the rooms are getting old and they need some rennovations.

Reliably satisfactory

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
The hotel is older and has been gently used. The staff are always accomodating and repsonsive. I have some back problems and when I found I could not sleep comfortably in the bed (it is a very comfortable bed for most) a bed board was promptly installed. The continental breakfast is wonderful. This is our fourth stay and as the headline suggests were quite satisfied again.

Quiet and Convenient near the Beach

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Quiet, location
Cons: showing a little wear and tear, no pool
My daughter picked this hotel for us on a trip to SM in 2005. It was fresh and lovely and we had a fabulous room which really stood out in our memories. On our return trip in 2010 with husband and son in tow five years later the Ambrose was beginning to show it's age in the flooring and furnishings in the lobby area. Breakfast is good, but is definitely continental only. We booked 2 rooms and one was too small and drab. They generously allowed us to tour all available in the superior class we paid for until we found the perfect one. Staff are polite and helpful but this is definitely not a hotel where you get fawned over. The value, serenity, location and comfort can't be beat. Picky husband and son arrived later that day and husband raved about it but 14 yo old son said it was too "zen" for him, albeit he loved playing with the full size zen garden in front of the fireplace. I will stay there again.
