We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again. Staff was pleasant and helpful, our room was clean. We had a second floor room and woke up to a beautiful view of the ocean. We were a little disappointed they didn't have a light breakfast available, which some travel websites are still showing, but they're working on removing that. And we were a little surprised by the $15/night parking fee, but we probably missed it somewhere. Overall a great stay!

Located right on the beach, but room needed maintenance. The floor was dirty and falling apart, and the walls are very thin.

Budget ocean side hotel. Great access to a popular locals beach. Some good beachside pubs and dining a short walk away. Hotel is a barebones budget variety so don't expect any luxury, just a basic clean room. Second floor bayside balcony is nice, if you book here I would recommend that.

Always love the second floor view of Dog Beach. Disappointed that continental breakfast wasn't being served due to COVID, although other hotels in the area were still serving breakfast. Also, landline phone in room had no dial tone even thought it was plugged in.

I almost cancelled my booking after reading mixed reviews about the hotel and its location, but that would have been a mistake. The room was clean and spacious (Park View Suite). The dog run was cool. The hotel is literally on the ocean, next to the dog beach (super joyful) and estuary (gorgeous birds and plant life) along the channel which is absolutely gorgeous. Ocean Beach shops, restaurants, tide pools and pier are within walking distance. Lots of little delis and restaurants can be found within the residential neighborhood surrounding the motel. The staff was more on the paranoid side about Covid, but they were really nice, so it wasn't awkward. There is a homeless population around, but this is California. If you don't want to be confronted by the inevitable decline of Western Civilization, you can go somewhere more remote, I suppose. But, the homeless population isn't overbearing and if you're nice to them, they're nice to you. Overall: brilliant experience with my husband and 3 kids. Will definitely consider coming back.

When I arrived after driving 6 hours to get there, one of the first things I saw was a sign for Beach Access. That immediately soothed my soul. One of the next was the "Dog Wash" area. "What a great idea!" I said aloud (though no one could hear me but my dog). The room was clean and simple. Because it was a dog friendly room, it didn't surprise me to see little dings on the dresser, etc. -- if you live with dogs, especially big dogs, you know that stuff happens. I loved all the little placards labelling the plants around the property. We walked to dog beach a few times a day. We walked to get coffee. We walked to the store. We walked and walked and walked -- it was such a nice change of pace from driving everywhere. Even though it was November, people were enjoying the pool. Everywhere I went, people were smiling. Thanks for a lovely vacation!
