The reason for the low rating is primarily due to the poor condition and upkeep of the property. There was trash in the planters and parking lot. Construction supplies were left in customer areas. There was a box of screws right outside my room door on the ground that never got picked up. The pool and jacuzzi area was run down, trashy and unkept. The pool was frigid cold and the jacuzzi was only warm, not hot. There was dirty residue in the jacuzzi. The property looks run down and unkept. Also, the construction project looks terrible with slabs of plywood enclosing a major portion of the front area of the hotel. The place looks dirty and unkept essentially. The room was so so. Our refrigerator was not plugged in with no outlet to be found and when we tried to open it the door dragged along the floor. One positive was the bed was clean and comfortable and the shower was pretty clean. There are other motels in the area that are priced similarly that are much cleaner and well kept. My 13 year old said that the back alley of one of those motels was cleaner than the front area of the Sands! Just to give you an idea. I would not recommend this motel due to these issues.
