Clair de Lune is a romantic contemporary style home that offers ocean views through expansive glass windows that dramatically run the length of the home and bring the outdoors in. Two large skylights and a vaulted ceiling create a light-filled volume and space. The circular stairs lead to a loft bedroom with an even more spectacular ocean view. This home is located on a cul de sac, in the highly desirable Sculpture Point area, just steps away from the ocean bluff trail. Another trail, just one house away, leads to Smugglers Cove and the marine preserve. Pebble Beach is a five minute walk down a beautiful trail.

On a cloudless night, you can lie in the master bedroom suite and see the moon shining through the skylight, hence the name Clair de Lune. From the living and dining areas, there is a white-water view of the ocean crashing over rocks.

This home is ideal for a couple or a family with a child over 12 years old. Unfortunately the style of the house does not allow us safely to have children under 12 years old. Absolutely no pets are allowed.

Not what we thought it would be
We have rented many vacation homes in Sea Ranch. This home was quite a disappointment for us compared to all the others. It was much more expensive as well. The photos and description of this property portrayed it as being secluded. When we arrived, we found that it shared a driveway with another home next door. And also had homes surrounding it closely on each side. There was construction being done on the deck and that was not clarified in the description. The deck was also on the back of the house and the home blocked the ocean view. There was no heating or air conditioning and no fireplace. (How would you keep warm in the winter time?) The windows were rusty. Some were not possible to open & screens were broken/missing. The ocean views were partially blocked by overgrown bushes and trees. There were beetles & spiders inside the home. The television kept cutting out while we were watching it. It said there was an animal-proof garbage can down the hill from where the parking was. We could not find it anywhere, so we brought our trash home with us. For the money we paid to stay here for a weekend getaway on my boyfriend's birthday, we were quite disappointed.

Solid property in wonderful Sea Ranch setting
The property is in excellent shape and you can tell the owners care and are trying to bring a great experience to guests. It has a spacious garage, wonderful huge windows with white water views (in spite of not being a waterfront property), and an impressive modern design/feel. Beds are comfortable, the TV set up is top notch (large OLED screen with Apple TV and fiber internet access). The place was super clean, and recently painted. Temperature was comfortable: we did not mess with the thermostat, just opened a few windows for air circulation mid day because it was very sunny and the large windows brought in some heat. The kitchen has everything you'll need to cook your meals. The biggest negative, in my opinion, is the sceptic system, which is really sensitive. This should have been communicated much more prominently and in advance and shouldn't be left to the guests reading some flyers laying on a coffee table. Essentially all food scrap and crumbs need to be cleaned off the plates/pots before entering the dish washer or the sink, or the pipes will jam. I would not be surprised if property management received a call for each guest visit because of this (we had to call). The system affects the effectiveness of the toilets also, so extra care is needed. The second negative is the low height of the kitchen counters. It looks as if this was built for accessibility, so spending a long time in the kitchen is not recommended if you are used to regular counter height. All in all we really enjoyed our stay.
