Nice hotel in the Plaza

Walking distance to plenty of restaurants, wine tasting rooms and even hiking trails. We loved the restaurant there at the hotel. The food was exceptional. Our room was small but clean and cozy.

Loved this hotel!

Historic and in a great location. Rooms are small but comfortable and with a classy feel. The staff is super helpful and friendly. Loved this place and will be back. Only possible negative we saw was there is very little parking.

Very plain and uninviting room

Pros: The bed was comfortable - excellent quality comforter. The air conditioning was quiet and worked flawlessly. Staff was excellent.
Cons: Put some pictures on the wall and decorate the room a little so it doesn't resemble a prison cell. A chair would be nice in the room. Move the TV.
Location: Nice area with plenty of wineries within walking distance. Trolley and shuttle tours to other wineries - I recommend Buena Vista winery.
First impressions of this hotel were dismal to say the least; the room was very small, nothing on the walls for decoration, wood blinds with no other window treatments - plain is an understatement. The complimentary water in the refrigerator was in a reusable glass bottle, which was quaint - never saw anything like that before - but I got the feeling that the housekeeping staff was just filling it from the tap in the bathroom. Not appealing at all to me so I wouldn't drink it. I did quite a bit of research prior to selecting this hotel and for the life of me I cannot figure out how it got anything higher than two or three stars. Also there were no chairs in the room, so if you wanted to watch TV you had to do so from lying in bed on your side because the TV was positioned not in front of the bed but way off to one side of the room.

Thompson's stay

Pros: Secluded, quiet elegance with wonderful restaurant!
Cons: Elevator would help!
Location: Wine and cheese tastings, 5 star restaurants and lovely plaza! Great shopping!
The ElDorado Hotel in Sonoma, CA is a wonderful place to stay if you choose not to drive. Everything is in walking distance. Food was 5 star in the ElDorado Kitchen!
