Once you touch down at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), it's just a quick 24-mile drive to hotels in Stone Mountain, GA. The rental car center can be accessed by following signs to the covered walkway at the west end of the terminal, which leads to the ATL SkyTrain. It's just a five-minute ride to the rental car center. If you'd rather hoof it by public transit, you can do that too: ride the MARTA Gold Line to Five Points Station and switch to the Blue Line, then ride east to Kensington Station and switch to bus 121, which will take you the rest of the way into town. Once you're there, you can pick up one of the Stone Mountain car rentals to get around locally. Your first stop should be Stone Mountain Park, where you can ogle one of the world's largest exposed granite domes. It also features a massive high-relief sculpture depicting Confederate heroes from the Civil War. Measuring more than three acres in surface area— larger than Mount Rushmore— this relief is definitely not to be missed. The park also features some hiking trails and a scenic railroad loop.
