Very basic hotel. Customer service was lacking. The guy working day shift was pleasant but the guy working nights (with the nose bridge piercing) didn’t say a word. The power went out in Arcata at 6pm and by morning breakfast, staff still had no updates for guests. No efforts to provide breakfast (which was included in price). There is a single bathroom in the lobby, but no toilet paper. The same guy that ran the front desk and managed the morning buffet eventually added toilet paper to the bathroom.

The employees are great. Although, their valet service is sub par because the valets are trying to cover two entry doors at the same time - the casino AND the hotel. The rooms are not luxury in any way, they're just a regular hotel room. My mom's handicapped room was only handicapped because because it had a roll in shower and a bar next to the toilet. But the toilet height was too low for her. So I had to hunt locally for a temporary riser. Also, in a two day period we had to have maintenance come snake her toilet THREE times! They assured us it wasn't her fault but that they had been having issues with it! Also my room was touted as having a "balcony". Yeah, um, I'm pretty sure a ground floor room with a square of cement and a wrought iron fence ISN'T a balcony. Maybe if they put a couple chairs out there and some plants in the dirt it might look a little more inviting. The room service was great and most of the food was good. Overall, great employees, lame valet service, good food, and therooms coulduse a little tweaking to update to "resort" status.
