We booked a room for two queen beds with a water view for my family of four. When we arrived they gave us a room with two full beds. We were on the ground floor in a very dated, run down, small room with a back door that didn’t open. After a lot of complaining and insisting we get the room we paid for and being told multiple times that nothing was available they finally “found” a room for my family. This new room that thankfully had the size bed we paid for, was on the second floor. No elevators in the hotel, so we had to carry all of our luggage up the stairs. The stairwell was incredibly dirty. It looked as though it hadn’t been cleaned in years. The room was also very disappointing. The bathroom door was a pocket door that was extremely hard to open and close. So bad that we had to leave it open after having to pry it open to help get our children out. The ceiling in the bathroom was severely peeling, the tub was stained and dirty. The bed pillows were lumpy and we all woke up with sore necks. The mattresses were terribly uncomfortable as well. It was great to have the pool area, tiki bar and view of the canal. The problem with the pool area was the very outdated children’s splash area that was not working, as well as the very dated and falling apart activity areas. The hallways were very dirty throughout the hotel. For the price we paid, almost $300 a night, I was expecting a much better experience, cleaner and more modern updated facilities.

For such a fancy place, you'd think that they would have more accommodations for disabled guests. I reserved a room with an accessible bathroom for my mother, but they put her on a second floor and there was no elevator for her to use! I understand that it's an old building, but elevators were invented over 150 years ago! Get with the time! Also, no free continental breakfast like every other hotel in the country...

Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable and large room, good bar (and bar food). Pool was nice. River boat tour was excellent.
