We've stayed at the sister hotel, Historico Central, and loved it. We've been wanting yo try this hotel and we found our gem. Service, Room, Location and Amenities were top notch. We enjoyed breakfast each morning at El Balcon de Zocalo which was excellent and very filling. We had dinner there one evening. The food again was good, but thought it was a bit pricey. However, the views are worth it.
The location is ideal in the Centro Historico, but it can also be negative when there are demonstrations which is what happened the day I arrived. The street was closed and I had to walk about 4 or 5 blocks to reach the hotel. This is not the fault of the hotel, but simply sharing my experience so you know what "could" happen. Also, check in is at 230 p.m. There was no flexibility.
Otherwise, an overall great experience and this will be my to go hotel when in Mexico City.
Special Kudos to 2 great employees. FABIAN, the bell boy who was friendly and shared recommendations with guests and Arturo Contreras, one of the managers at the Balcon Restaurant who hussled and provided excellent customer service to all diners.
